Again!?!?

OK....this is about to be kind of a vent.

I am the kind of person who when I'm sick or having surgery, I don't like other people helping me and I try to do as much as I can on my own because I don't like asking others for help and I don't want a pity party. Well, when I had my RNY all of my friends dropped off the face of the earth and I figured it was because I was going to be "different" well some of those friends came back and were so concerned about me having surgery the other day....well that was Thursday...

Now, fast forward to Sunday morning, not ONE friend or family member has called to ask how I'm doing. Not one phonecall, text, or drop-in. I get people are probably giving me space or what not but really? Not ONE check in? It just makes me sick and frustrates me that I really don't have anyone to rely on.

So thank you to everyone on here for giving me loads and loads of support. :)

Sometimes people are just caught up in their own lives and don't realize they need to be there for someone. Perhaps, you need to call someone to chat or share. They'll be there if you need them.

Hahaha no need to run! You are so funny. I do understand that I probably have given that impression but it still has been a lonely few days.

Hang tough and if you like these friends, call them and chat. They very well may be thinking you need to rest and they would be keeping you from doing what you need to do if they were to call.

((hugs))

I have always been the type to never ask for help...I hated to "owe" anyone.

Well, then I really needed help and no one offered because they knew how I usually took care of everything myself. I finally figured out that people aren't mind readers. I had to ask for help and when I did...my friends were more than happy to help!

Ask for help girlie...your friends and family love you, they are just used to you being Miss Independent :)

RNY on 11/29/10 with
I feel ya, Rebecca Ann. I remember when I had Lyme's Disease several years ago, and no one called to check to see if I needed help. It was awful! With the RNY, I asked for a lot of help, and was so touched by my friends' kindness and support. But I don't think it would have happened without my request and education about the process. I think even people who love you need direction! Still, I can understand your feelings. You have to decide if these folks are true friends. If they are, pick up the phone and remind them. It is important to let them know that you need them during the crunch periods.

How are you feeling?

Amy, I think it does go a bit deeper then them just not checking on me, i've been in counsling for a few weeks and through it I have been questioning if they are true friends or not. The ones that do matter have started calling tonight and I started balling on the phone telling my aunt how I know i'm never asking for help but I have been really lonely. Also, sorry to hear you went through the same thing before.

I'm feeling really sore and I am really really crabby from it. Everything is irritating me and everything is making me cry haha.
