OT just want to vent

Ever notice that just when you think you have a handle on something (in this case finances) the bottom falls out?
My two year old front loading washing machine stopped working.  The door latch is broken and apparently you can't use a front loader with a broken door latch.  To fix it cost me $300!!!!! Ouch!

The good news?  It's still cheaper than buying a new one.  The repair is guaranteed for five years.
The repairman also hooked up the dryer hose (and cleaned out all the lint behind the dryer) for nothing.  And he told me who to call to have the vent cleaned out.  It seems the laundry room was so hot and smelled weird is because the hose hadn't been hooked up for months.  Hugh fire hazard.  I wouldn't have known if the washer hadn't broken.

Vent over. LOL

Sorry to hear about that Janet, I feel the same exact way...whenever I have gotten on top of things finacially or saved some money, something breaks or unexpected bills come!

Yeah, our heat pump went out this spring.  It was still under warrenty, or the compressor was, but the labor, etc was still over $1000.

Glad you found out about the dryer.  Dryer fires are really horrible.

The positive is the $300.00 save your whole house from burning down.  With homes- it's always something!

You are so right.  Last year, we gave a Super Bowl party and the next morning our ho****er heater exploded and flooded the downstairs.  Luckily my daughter was home when it happened so we called for repairs right away.  Still thousands of dollars of damage.
But, it's all good.  We have a roof over our head, and even though it's a killer paying for things we hadn't planned on, we are blessed that we had the money to do it.

It's really weird--since the RNY (and the fact that it was successful)  I find it much easier to look at the positive side of things!  As long as I get to vent first! LOL

Sorry about your car.  I bought a used mini-cooper last year (BMW) and I can't believe how expensive the repairs are!  I love my car, it's a blast to drive, but if I had to do it again, I would just buy a Yaris from Toyota.

I just posted a reply to your reply Cheryl, but it showed up under the message above yours.  Really weird.

I swear, whenever my life is in chaos, my car breaks down.  It's rage against humans I think.  Like "look out terminator X is coming soon".  Speaking of which.  I need to sell my car, it's now out of warranty and I can't afford to keep it in repairs.  Don't ever buy German luxury cars, not worth it unless you like driving loaners.
