Its Friday!!!!! a "Just for fun" post
Good morning LWs. Hope everyone is doing well. I havent been around much this week.... got alot of stressful things Im trying to deal with. Anyways, its time for a "Just for fun" post. Gonna change things up a little this week and just ask 1 question. So here it goes.....
What has been the most challenging part of your WLS journey?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the beginning the roughest part for me was getting approved for my surgery. It took 17 months from my wls seminar to date of surgery. Fighting with the insurance co over denials etc. It was a very stressful time. Right now, the most challenging part is the psychological issues.
Cant wait to see everyones answers. Cindy
Good morning - I haven't been around much either - dealing with major family issues. Hope your stress gets relieved soon!
The most challenging part of my WLS journey -- I'm lucky that so far I haven't had any complications or sickness since having surgery 1 year ago. I guess for me the most challenging part has been the look of wrinkly skin. I can accept it, but then summer is coming up and I would love to wear a sleeveless shirt, but heck no! So, the challenge will be to find t-shirts and shorts that are just the right length. A friend of mine is also a big pool party thrower and I kind of dread the swimsuit scene. I guess when you see a fat girl in a swimsuit, you expect to see fat arms and legs. When you see a thin girl in a swimsuit, you don't expect to see wrinkly arms and legs. I'm a bit shy and that bugs me.
Good question. I haven't had any major problems. My recovery has all gone well.
The skin issue is a pain. I tried on many shirts this morning trying to find something I would wear to the driving clinic this weekend. Sleeves had to be right, weight had to be right because it is going to be in the 80s, needed to have a collar (acceptable clinic attire). Then I had to find something other than jeans to wear with them. I'm guessing it will get better as I do more shopping but for now, between the skin and the change of seasons, I have problems.
I don't know what I will do for a swim suit. It will cover the belly and butt but not the arms and legs which are horrible.
I also want my hair back.
Hi LW's...I am about 10.5 weeks out now, and my biggest, ongoing challenge is progressing in regards to my eating. I have had big problems keeping food down. I am cleared for anything, but am still mainly on "mushie" type foods. I do keep trying to make progress and try new things...with mixed results. But, the good thing is that I have had 4 days in a row without vomiting at all and that is a first for me...so maybe I have turned a corner (knock on wood!). I can easily get all my protein ( 90 to 100 grams daily) thanks to Nectar shakes, cottage cheese, greek yougart, refried beans, string cheese ...but my Dr and NUT are really after me to try more "solid" foods and get off the shakes. I really don't see myself going without at least one shake a day..but I am trying to eat more of a variety...my homemade white chicken chili seems to be doing ok...I have never eaten more than 4oz of food at a meal and today I am going to try to make a lentil soup with chicken sausage...wish me luck..I don't want to break my new "no puking" record! I never thought I would be so excited to get through days without throwing up! But, all in all, I am very content with my progress and with myself for striving to overcome the challenges..I only have 3 lbs to lose until I am half way to my goal...so that makes me feel good. My husband has been in Florida for a month and won't be back for 2 or 3 more weeks and I am sure he is going to be suprised when he finally sees me...because even I can see the difference now! Hope everybody has a great weekend!
So far my biggest challenge is other people -
How much have you lost? How small are you? Are you eating THAT? Are you ONLY eating THAT? You look too thin - eat more. You don't want to hurt my feelings by not eating my home made birthday cake with inch-thick butter cream frosting, do you? What do you mean you're not going to drink the vodka mudslide I made just for you with full-fat chocolate ice cream? Why aren't you going to the gym more often? You can't go to the gym today - I need you to do this instead!
I know that everyone of these people means well, but it's aggravating!
Biggest challenge of all????
Getting in enough liquids. I'm still having issues with that.
I'm over 10 weeks out too...can eat most anything now. I started salads about two weeks ago. OMG, didn't realize how badly I missed them. Adding new stuff to them each time so I know if I react to something what it is. As long as I take my lactaid meds, small amounts of milk based products don't bother me.
And I am ONE pound away from cracking into the 150's. I made it past the halfway mark already. So I'm good there.
Hair has started to fall out in huge amounts. It's always been thin and fallen out easy but Lord Love a Duck, this is ridiculous.
