metallic taste in mouth - foods taste strange
Hi Tracey! Nice to hear from you too.
You know, I have been having a lot of hot flashes lately and they started right about when the metallic taste came on. But I thought I was over menopause and my terrible summer of hot flashes I experienced the summer before last (2009)! Geez, I used to get so hot you could see the steam rise off of my skin! I have been wondering why I am getting them again - although they are not nearly as bad as in 09..... maybe being so fat back then made them worse?
I have an appt to get my blood tested tomorrow - it's time anyway. And I made an appt with my PCP for my annual check up. So I should get some answers soon.
I'll keep you posted.

We store hormones in our fat. As the fat is released so are the hormones. It does all sorts of weird things to people. Some get heavy periods, some experience menopause-like systems, some get irregular, some get more regular. And most of us get emotional!

Although my appt with my PCP isn't for a few weeks, I had an interesting occurence with my metal mouth: The metallic taste was super strong for 2 days straight. I was very busy doing a project, working non-stop and forgetting to eat or drink. I went to the bathroom the 2nd evening and my urine was a color I had never seen in a toilet before in my life! It was the color of rootbeer! So different from even the darkest-dehydration yellow. I was very alarmed. I drank and drank and drank (h20) hoping it might be dehydration, and not some toxic infection or something. The next morning it was a much better color AND the metallic taste in my mouth was much better. It did not completely go away, but this was an interesting incident, don't you think? .... dark brown urine! yuck!
