What am I doing wrong....

Sorry to vent...but I have got to be doing something wrong! Wedensday will be three weeks post op and I am down a whopping 9 or 10 pounds.  I am still on liquids only and am getting 300-500cal a day, 50-70g of protein and about 50oz water. I know that I need to get my water up and I am working on that--but it seems like I should be dropping some pounds. Why isn't this working??

Any suggestions on what else I can be doing?

Seems pretty good to me..thats 3 pounds a week. Remember also that your body is adjusting and you are only eating 300-500 calories, thats not very much! Your body might be holding on to some of that, in starvation mode..but still, three pounds a week is what I averaged at first. Keep it up!!

Be patient, your body is still healing from major sugery.  Don't worry...we all have the fear in the beginning that it will work for everyone else but us....it WILL work for you too.  Just relax and do everything your supposed to.

its perfectly normal.... it WILL come off .  I GAINED 15  lbs of water weight  in the hospital and it stayed on for three weeks  so consider Urself lucky  ;) .

Liteweights  lose slower but we lose a larger  percentage of our weight and maybe look a little better in the end  ;)  too I think especially if we exercise as we lose .

Thats alot more than I have lost in a month. I average (even from the beginning) 8-10 pounds a month and had a 3 month stall... Sound like you are right on target

Thanks ladies. It just seems like I keep reading of all these people that are losing 20 pounds right after surgery and I feel like I'm not doing something right when it isn't coming off faster! I know, I should thow away the scale, but having my appt on Thursday with the surgeon I wanted to see "where I was" and was disappointed.  I know it is a journey, but a little encouragement from the scale would be nice too!

Amy, I lost quite a bit at the beginning, but I averaged more calories than 300 to 500.  The soups I pureed were cream based so that was higher in cals.  I think if you increase your cals you may drop more.

I ate 4 oz every 3 hours.  Not sure what you plan is.

Add another protein shake and increase your fluids....but really, you're doing pretty good and it will get better and easier over time.

I am right around where you are......11 pounds in 4 weeks......but my body is smaller so I figure inches are coming off, even if not that many pounds.  I try to to just think that this is a journey.......as long as I keep losing I am cool.

Good luck to you!!!!!

(It IS a little baffling though that you can eat this little calories and not lose for a week....I havent figured it out but am just accepting the process!!).
