Addiction? Worry or not to worry?

Hi all,  I haven't posted anything in ages, but have a question.  This may sound stupid, but not sure if i need to worry about it or not.  I think i have developed an addiction to ORANGES!  I have eaten more oranges in the last 2 months than i have in my entire lifetime.  I just can't seem to get enough of them.  I am getting my protien, taking all my vitamins and supplements, and i have had absolutely no problems since my surgery. I am 6 months out and about 20lbs from my goal weight.  Only about 8lbs from my surgeons goal weight.  I exercise every day and feel awesome!
My questions is: Should i be concerned about how many oranges i eat? (3-4 per day).  Or is this just something that may pass as time goes on?
Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Karen

Don't really have an answer but your progress has been fantastic!  Keep it up.  My program doesn't allow any fruits until we have lost 75% of our excess weight. I have had bananas though since I don't dump.  The only thing i would be worried about with oranges is that they are highly acidic which could cause pouch irritation.

I remember going through a stage where I couldn't get enough oranges when I was 11 or 12 or so.  My mother was worried I would develop canker sores.  I'm not sure if that's a real risk or not, but I can identify with you.

I always wonder if we crave things because our body needs it because of a deficiency. I wonder if you are in need of Vitamin C?
Prior to my revision I was drinking a lot of orange juice and that contributed to my weight gain. Of course orange juice is worse then oranges but it is still a lot of sugar. If it doesn't affect your weight loss I wouldn't worry about it.

Ladytazz, my Mother used to say the same thing about cravings.  Its your body's way of saying it needs something.  Ive always had food cravings, from a teenager to adulthood.  I would crave certain foods and thats all I would eat for days on end.   Cindy

I agree with the others. Perhaps your body is craving the Vitamin C. Perhaps a good time to check in regarding your blood work.

My Mom said the same thing... that's why I didn't think twice about it when I craved sugar.

Congrats on your weight loss!!!

I've never heard of anyone craving oranges but I suppose it's a lot better than craving candy or carbs.  I would be worried about ulcers if it were me because I couldn't eat them before WLS because they gave me acid reflux but it doesn't sound like they are bothering your pouch.   You are in the honeymoon period so you can get away with it but after the honeymoon period is over all that natural sugar might get you into some trouble.

Thanks everyone for your insight.  I guess i won't worry about it too much, but will try to gain control over it before the honeymoon is over. I go for my 6month check up and blood work at the end of this month so we will see how things are going.
I should consider myself lucky that it is just oranges......could be worse like you said.
I have been so blessed to not have any problems, so i best stay on the straight and narrow or that could change at any time.

I agree with the others that your body is asking for what it needs.  Vitamin C is good for us as long as it's not irritating your pouch.

I had a spell years ago when I was craving oranges like crazy.  We were down in Baja and there were wild trees everywhere.  I think I lived on them.  Years later I had myself tested for food allergies/sensitivities and low and behold, I'm allergic to three things that I crave a lot.... oranges, eggs and beef.
