have an appt with pomp as a lightweight!

I have an appt with Pomp for a consultation for the DS on the 27th if all goes well with finding  a flight.
I sure hope this isn't a waste of $1,000.  He is out of my network so the consultation will be $400-$600 out of pocket. Then plane fare another $200.
My BMI will be 35 when I see him (it won't be hard to gain a few since I'm going on vacation the week before!)
I really, really, hope he will do this revision for me.

LWs swing lizards for good luck, so I'm swinging lizards for you!!  Keep us posted and eat and drink well from now until the 27th. I hope it's cold so you can wear lots of layers and heavy boots as well.

Swinging critters and make sure you ask him about your odds of getting thru surgery in one stage. Remember he will not say 100% as it all depends on what he actually finds once he gets inside and he does prefer to be safe. But if they are in the 90's, you are batting good odds.

Btw, have you considered taking the train? We did and it was much less hassle. LOL

I never thought about a train. It would probably take several hours. I can fly there and back in one day. Its only an hour flight. I would rather not stay overnight.

Well, when you go down for surgery, you might want to consider it. :) I know flights are faster but only once you actually get ON the plane. There is no hassle on a train like there is on a plane and it's a much nicer way to travel.

No rules about taking liquids, food, etc. They don't have you standing in security lines like an airport and screening you and after surgery, you won't feel like doing that.

And parking is non-existent in the city. We stayed at the Helmsley Medical Tower next door and parking there IF you were lucky enough to find a spot was $30 a day for people staying in the tower having medical procedures.

Good luck with your consultation.  Hope it goes good for you.
If he is out of network will your insurance pay for the surgery??
I'm with the others, eat well and wear really thick clothes.

My insurance will require me to pay 30% of the surgery not to exceed 5,000. So basically it will cost 5,000.
The only Ds surgeon in network is an hour away. It is O'Malley. I think he needs a lot of persuasion to do them. Being a LW I am probably not a candidate, and he only does them open.

When U  go for surgery AFTERWARDS  U SHOULD NOT  fly if at all possible  due to the  serious  risk of  blood clots forming .   So the trains is a far better option  in my opinion too ( then , not now )  Good  luck with Ur consult  !
