I know my dr says to get  Multi- chewable, calcium, iron (if needed) and B12 sublingual.  Just looking at Vitalady's recommendations -- I am wondering if there is a successful middle ground???  I need to search for more info on this site -- just want some opinions, please... I need to get shopping!!!

I have samples from Celebrate --- anyone used their drink mix all inclusive multi???  Looks interesting.

Thanks!

I am now doing B-12 shots.  I was taking sublingual, tried 3 different kinds (it's expensive to experiment) and all made me nauseaus.  Plus, the bonus is that  my insurance pays for the B12 shot.  Does anyone know of any negatives with the B-12 shot?

No negatives except I'm not so ready to shoot myself. {chicken}  The shots are a fine choice.

The ASMBS recommends VSGers take 1 multi (100% adult dose), 1500 mg of calcium citrate and that's it. My surgeon recommends taking 2x the adult dose and personally I think that's better. With our tiny tummy it can be hard to eat a variety of foods to get all the micronutrients.

Oh the multi should have selenium, zinc, at least 18 mg of iron and 400mcg of folic acid.

Now, this is to start. Then, as you get regular lab work, you may end up adding some things. Or dropping things.

I had low Vitamin D pre-op so I started taking Vitamin D right away. I also take some stuff to address deficiencies in my diet (like I don't eat much fish) and to help with endurance. My current schedule is:

AM: 1 Celebrate (a serving is 3 and I space them out)
500 mg calcium citrate

Lunch: 1 Celebrate, 24 mg iron, 50 mg ubiquitol (for endurance)

PM: 1 Celebrate, 500 mg calcium citrate

Dinner: 500 mg calcium citrate, 1 fish oil capsule

I also take 50,000 IUs of Vitamin D every other week and I get the kind of calcium citrate that has vitamin d in it (and sometimes magnesium but that one is harder to find).
