I did it today....

I started this business so I could be "retired" kind of.  At least I have called it my retirement business.  I only work with a client 8 hrs a week, but then do all the management stuff, payroll, billing, etc.  At least that I can do on my own time, like when it is raining and I can't be with the ponies or garden.
Think of the garden you could have this summer.  That would save you some $$.
Hopefully it will all work out for you.  There are skills you have gained over the years that you can put to work for sure.  And the job market is picking up so it may be perfect timing.

Jody, sending big hugs your way!!  I'm so excited about your possibilities in retirement.  I bet you're going to come up with something terrific.  I don't have a pension so I'm going to need to work as long as possible so that i can really stretch my 401k etc.  Consider yourself lucky to be one of the "young" ones that can retire.

Oh boy, new pics.... I can't wait to see your hair.  You always look gorgeous!

I've got to see a picture of your new hair style!!  If my eyebrows weren't so black I think I'd quit coloring mine...it is such a pain in the butt!!!!

That's a shame the government can't just be upfront with you.  When my husband's company (Pepsi Cola) left a lot of people go they treated them so well but that's probably because of the union.  When my former boss decided to close his store he promised us that if we finished through Christmas and the month after he would make it worth our while.  I passed up a very promising job and he gave us a measly $600.00 which by the way was what I got every single year for a Christmas bonus but surprisingly didn't get that year because he saved it for our end of employment bonus....what a jerk.

I did learn that if you are planning on getting another job they don't like a big gap on your resume.

(((HUGS))) Jody

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

I just don't feel very photogenic anymore!  But I'll see what I can do.

I initially thought I'd wait until summer was over to look for a job, but now know I need to start looking now... I'll need the money!

Congratulations, Jody. I know you'll do well anywhere, but I think you'll thrive once you retire. I took early retirement from a federal agency and every time I fret about money, I remember I bought my freedom. I work part time now in retail.

Will you be able to carry your health insurance? That was the key that enabled me to go out at 55. It will be 10 years next month and I am so much happier. I volunteer for the local library and hospice. In fact, I am hard pressed to explain where the days go.

Enjoy this next chapter!

Yes, I'll be able to keep my health insurance.  That's the main reason I'm taking the early retirement.  If I "take my chances" and get RIF'd, I won't get my retirement until I'm 62 (10 years away) and NO health insurance.  Too big of a gamble for me to take at this point of my life.

Getting another job for a few years to get me settled is probably a good thing.  I've got some friends sending my resume around to see if anyone needs some help.

I've also found its "who you know" and networking that works the best!

Congratulations Jody!!!  What a great opportunity for you.  I'm jealous!!!

I know you will find something.  Too bad you are not closer to DGD you could babysit and spoil her rotten!!!

Good luck on the job search.  I can't wait to see pictures of your new do.  I just had mine colored Monday.

Oh Linda - I keep thinking I'll color it, then say "no - lets wait"... it hasn't been long enough for me to know whether I'll like it or not.

My initial plan was to move closer to my daughter so I could see my DGD more often, but we'll see what the cards hold for me.  You never know...
