HELP: Is this an OK amount of weight to lose in 23 days?
Hey guys! On the RNY board I can not BELIEVE how much some people are losing in a couple of weeks. As a lightweight, I would expect it to be slower, but do you think I am doing OK if I have lost 13 pounds in 23 days. On the day of surgery, March 7th, I weighed 223.5 and today I am 210. I am 5 feet, 6 inches tall. What do you think? Thanks friends! Catherine
Catherine,
Today is my 2 week mark and I am only down 8 pounds...I can only hope for 13 pounds in 23 days!! But while the weight is slow to come off, I am getting in at least 60g protein a day so am keeping muscle mass....but I can see some of the fat starting to melt.
I think we are all built differently and the weight will come off in different stages...some slower than others. I admit that I am somewhat jealous of those that are losing 20 pounds in the few weeks after surgery, but I know that this is a journey so we will all get there in the end :)

AWESOME!!!!! Lightweights do lose a little slower but we get to goal a whole quicker because we don't have near as much to lose.
If you haven't taken your before pictures or your measurments you better get moving on it quick because every pound is noticeable on a LW and your opportunity will slip away...forever!

Your doing great. You probably had some extra water weight that you have lost also since surgery and it will just keep coming off. congrats.

Thanks ya'll! I am glad to know that it seems like a reasonable loss for my situation. I am very happy with losing this much. I guess I just wanted reassurance that I am on target, when all those RNYs are losing 20 lbs a month! It has been an adjustment getting all of the protein and water in but I am getting better. I have been pretty darn good with the protein but am working on improvement with getting in my water! :) Thank you so much for the feedback!
I have lost 11.5 pounds since surgery 22 days ago. One thing I have noticed is that my clothes are way looser and I must be losing a lot of inches. I figure this is a journey and as long as the scale is going down I am good. I also need time to adjust to all of this.
Good luck to you!!!!

Sounds about right to me. Try not to compare yourself to others. Besides the differences in amount of weight lost, I've noticed that two people can be the same weight but wear completely different sizes. Like some will wear an 18 and some are already in a 10. What's up with that?
Hard as it is, we have to compare ourselves only to ourselves or we will go nuts!!!!
Congrats on the weight loss and remember to think of all the NSVs that are occuring. (That's Non Scale Victories)
