Irrational (Or Rational?) Fear??

Morning Gorgeous Ladies!
I have a very bizarre question...
So I had my surgery Jan 19/11...
I am down to 181 from 221.
Which is great! Right? .... Isn't it?...
For some odd reasons the last few days I have slowely started developing this irrational
fear I am going to lose too much weight!
Has anyone else encountered this?
It's so strange. Surgery is doing EXACTLY what it should, I just went and bought a size 14 dress pants, and 2 pairs of 32 jeans.. So why the heck am I all of a sudden frightened?!?!
On the bright side, the type of bypass I had is revisable... on the not-so-bright side, it would cost me another $12,000. Booooo!!!
Anywhoo.. I guess just wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom for a silly little newb post-op!

Thanks for reading :)

I have been reassured by both my surgeon and my pcp that as long as I am not ill, or having problems/setbacks that my body will KNOW where it wants to be and they could not see me getting "too small" (Funny, huh? Coming out of the mouths of we women who constantly chased "skinny"!!).

Post surgery, I seldom worry about it, but did have a "moment" about a week ago when I dropped 3 pounds in a few days. It's now been about  another week, and I am at that same weight, so I have to trust my body... I'd like to lose my final 9 pounds, but I do NOT consider that I am on a DIET (Diets made me FAT)! I am living my life without food dictating it, and as long as I am in a healthy range, I am good to go!

So far, I think this is one of the better things I have done for myself. I couldn't be happier and am so full of energy and life. Good luck on your journey, and be sure to pop on here often!

I had what's called a Mini Gastric Bypass. It's basically like a sleeve for the type of pouch, but with x number of feet bypassed as well. My surgeon can go in and revise the bypass length if neccessary if you lose too much weight, or lengthen the bypass length if you find you didn't lose enough weight.
Hope that helps :)

Ps. - Killer profile pic, Mini-me! You look stunning :)

Michelle, I seriously doubt you could lose too much weight. How tall are you?

Do your calculations for your BMI...both the top and BOTTOM end of it.

According to mine, I can weigh as MUCH as 143 or as little as 104. Now IF I weighed 104, I'd be nothing but bones. So I am aiming for 120 to allow for some bounce. But my body may stop before that.

Your's might stop before it reaches the bottom too.

I'm 5'1 so I could get pretty low.
You ladies are 100% correct and I really REALLY hope my body will stop when it wants too.

The logic part of my brain is telling me I'm only a few months out and should be EXCITED, but the wierd womanly hormonaly emotional part of my brain is like "eeeeek!".

You ladies are awesome. Thank you for listening to my silly irrational worries :)

Mine is that I will still be unhealthy and fat...that my surgery didn't actually fix the problem with my 3 stomachs (old one connected to pouch with a large blind limb).  I don't care exactly about the number on the scale but more about not having health problems...but it would be nice to see a number on the scale I haven't seen in 20 or more years.

I am sure your body will stop you where you need to be, plus there is always a slight regain because we can eat more- that's just part of surgery.  I think we all have a an elephant in the room, sometimes its good to acknowledge it.  Good luck!

I went through this too. I was training for a half-ironman and the weight was still falling off when I thought I should be at goal.

You probably aren't going to believe this (no one does), but at 2.5 years out, I look back on that time and wish I had let myself go a little lower. It's not losing too much weight that I worry about NOW!

I've slowed down so much that I'm not scared at all.  Just hoping it will get to the mid 120s.
