Thank Goodness I have a Sleeve

I had to put my dog to sleep today.  It's a whole long story. But, normally I would have consoled myself with some huge fast food sandwich with ginormous order of fries and later a milkshake and a pint of ice cream. Instead, I took a bubble bath  and hugged my other dog . . .not at the same time.

Thanks for letting me share.

oh, so very very sorry for your loss.  People who are not dog people don't get it, but I'm a dog person, so I do.  Our dogs are our babies, and when they hurt, so do we.

Thanks Tracey. And thanks for calling, too. It means a lot to hear from folks who understand. Took the day off work. Not everyone gets why.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, it's not easy when we lose our fur babies!

I took a week off work when I lost my first dog.  I simply couldn't function, thankfully I had another dog at home that needed my attention so I wasn't able to just lie and bed 24/7 and cry.

So sorry for your loss. Was the dog you had to put down your avatar? My avatar is a picture of my fur baby/walking companion.

I am glad you have other ways to comfort yourself, besides food. It is one of the hardest losses in life to lose a pet, if you are an animal person. They are unconditional love on four feet.

Nope. Not my Avatar dog. I have two still at home. They are younger than the one I had to let go yesterday. They seem to be having a huge party in her absence. I'm trying to convince myself they are trying to cheer me up and that they aren't celebrating her absence.

I'm sure they are comforting you After surgery, when I was having nausea and feeling down, my dog would snug right up to my hip. She normally doesn't do that. I don't know what I would do without her, but I'd get another dog. You can never replace the lost one, but love for another dog keeps your heart open.

So sorry about your little friend....I have cats and have had to have 2 put to sleep. It's heart-renching, but the kind thing to do. I cried on and off for several days with both of them. I totally understand how hard it hits.
Love your remaining furry baby and know that there is no more suffering for the other.

Sending you big hugs,

Tiffany
