Did you have DS and are a lightweight?
After a few days of research this is what I have come up with:
Dr. Pomp- He was taken off of dsfacts.com due to being a "bait and switcher". Apparently he likes to do revisions in 2 seperate surgeries. And sometimes you may come out of surgery with just a sleeve with never a chance of ds.
Dr Sudan- Is very experienced in revisions and will perform on a LW.
Dr. Peters- in PA may be an option but only does open not lap.
Dr. Teel- in Dayton, Oh, does lap and maybe LWs.
Dr. Elariny- in Va is a possiblity for LW and does lap.
Feel free to chime in!

Okay, since Bev has not responded to my email or to my husbands, can you point me to her reponse about this or is this from others on the board?
I know of TWO revisions that Pomp did on the DS board who were not completed as a full DS but left with a VSG. Two in one year. So he is tarred as a "bait and switcher" based on that? What we don't know is what went on in the operating room. Why he decided it was safer to stop? Sometimes, esp once we are under, we do have to rely on a surgeon's skill. Something may have happened once a person is under. That's why they also have a caveat in the paperwork that says they can do an open surgery even if it's scheduled as a lap. In case there are problems.
To be honest, I prefer a careful surgeon. One who stops rather than put my life at risk just to finish. Esp if I have massive scarring involved. My husband has a shunt and could have easily ended up a 2 stager even tho his was a virgin surgery simply due to scarring from other surgeries not wl related but Pomp was able to finish his on one surgery. He gave us a 99% guarantee, not 100% and I was fine with that. I do not consider that a bait and switch.
Others will disagree with me and thats fine. I just hate to see a fine DS surgeon dissed this way. I know you are just repeating what you have heard.

I was 2 weeks away from having Doc Peters do the DS for me(my BMI was 45)..we had a tragic financial problem soo I had to cancel. I then got insurance and ended up having RNY ( which I am very pleased with).
Good Luck in your search!
