Did you have DS and are a lightweight?

If so who was your surgeon and were they fine with doing with a lower BMI? I know some surgeons need persuading. I am looking for a surgeon, fairly close to me, who will perform a revision on a lightweight.
Thanks!

Welcome! I'm glad to see you here.

Southernlady's hubby, Charles, had Dr Pomp in NY do his DS and he's a LW. Mine was done by Dr Elariny in DC and he does revisions to DS and will do the DS for LWs but you have to make your case with him or his staff, such as sighting your comorbidities and that you are a grazer and know your stuff about the DS and the lifestyle post-op.

I'm sure Charles and Liz will chime in shortly.

ETA: I guess I shoud ask what your current BMI is. Unless you have mechanical failure of the band, you still need to be 35 or more BMI.

My bmi is about 30. Well, i guess that excludes me for DS. I will have to go with the revision to the sleeve.
This band is making me miserable.

Don't give up. Since you're a revision, there may be a loop hole. Go see Dr Pomp. He might think that if one restrictive only surgery failed you, a second one would too.

Please go see Dr. Pomp. My husband is the one who was Dr. Pomp's patient and I WOULD have been if my insurance had let me go out of state for my surgeon. LONG story on my issue.

Anyway, if Kimberly Wu can find a way, SHE will. (she is Dr. Pomp's admin assistant and one of the nicest ladies around).

Please do not give up.

Where is Pomp in Ny? NYC? I don't see him listed as a surgeon on dsfacts.com.
How does that work going out of town? Would I have to stay in a hotel for a bit after the surgery?

Dr. Pomp is at NYP/Weills Cornell and was listed on dsfacts til about 2 months ago. Both Charles and I have written Bev (dsfacts) asking for why he was pulled and neither of us have gotten a response back from her.

Best we can figure is that there were 3-4 people *****ported that he was becoming a 2 stage DS surgeon. Now, 2 of the 3 that we are aware of were revisions with massive amounts of scarring. He is a CAREFUL surgeon. Pomp has done FAR more than 2-3 DS's a year. But it was all based on the rumor mill. We flat asked him and he told us that he saw no reason for Charles to not have a full DS in one step. But then again, Charles was a virgin DS not a revision. All you can do is go see him, and ask him yourself.

Everyone here has been telling everyone to go to Roslin, but then this thread popped up: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4355529/What-would-you-do/ If I had been her, I would have been beyond livid and would never ever recommend him again.

To be honest, there aren't many revision surgeons around, and if it were me, *I* would trust Pomp in a heartbeat, but then I have met him.

Hi Soulsister! I had a DS but my BMI was 36. I don't know if Dr. Stewart would do a DS on you with a BMI of 30 or not. I was not a revision and was self pay. Give him a call, he is great! I did not just go by what I was told on the phone. I went to his seminar and waited for him afterwards and he took the time to talk to me one on one. From what I've heard he will do a phone consult if you live out of town. Good luck!

I was going to suggest Dr. Pomp before I read the other posts.  Looks like he can lead you in the right direction.  The bonus is that he is not far from home!  Hope things work out for you.
