Price, before taking extra potassium, please check with your PCP. The normal range for potassium is very narrow, and too much or too little can cause severe cardiac arrhythmia's and death. Your PCP will know how much and what type of potassium to supplement with. This is one that I would leave to the professionals. Just my 2 cents.

I've already taken some and they gave me 5 caps in the hospital because I was low.  My levels have continued to go down from before surgery to in the hospital.  9-2-10     4.3
                                                                                                  3-7-11      3.8
                                                                                                   3-25         3.1

I will wait to take more until I see the Dr tomorrow.  Thanks for the info.

I just wanted to jump in and say good for you for taking the potassium seriously.  I know of a gastric-bypass patient (my instructor's best friend) who actually went into cardiac arrest in the middle of a work day several months after her surgery due to potassium deficit.  Had she been at home, she would have died.... fortunately, she's a nurse, was right by a crash cart, and is fine now!

I did the update in a different thread.  I didn't get one because he thought it would self adjust.  I have the low dose and will take a few a day.  We are going to retest in a month.
