Good Morning. I'm so glad I found the LW board

The LW board was the first board I posted to when I was pre-op. I lurked on my surgery specific board and lurked all of 2 minutes on the main board .   Anyway, I think weekends on my surgery specific board are a lot like nights of the full moon. People tend to go nuts, get into all kinds of trouble and post all kinds of nasty posts and responses to people. {sigh}  It would seem that new folks would read and lurk awhile before jumping into the quagmire, you know?  They should get a feeling for the attitudes and the way to ask questions first before blindly jumping in.

Anyway, this board doesn't seem to be affected by the full moon as much. I'm so glad to have a safe place to land. We really should post a little more on weekends as I think new folks may be lurking around a bit more on weekends. What do you guys think? Want to make the effort to post more on weekends?

The LW board was the first one I posted on, too, back in 2008 and Gina, you were the first to welcome me.  Somehow I missed the negativity on the other boards and just luckily found this one when looking around.  I have since been amazed at how hateful some people can be when answering simple questions of those who just want to know!  (other boards, of course).

I read every day and appreciate SO much learning from everyone!  I need to make an effort to post more, period!  Thanks to everyone on here for always being so welcoming and helpful!  I couldn't have made it without you!

I was so glad when I found this board also.  Everyone was very welcoming and there is no drama or nastiness here.  I don't tend to post very often but have learned so much from reading of other peoples experiences.  Thanks to all the vets who share the stories of their journeys and are always willing to give constructive, non-judgmental advice.

I agree - this board is actually a community where you can actually get to know others. I also believe that it works the way a support board should - even though people have their struggles, I see success being posted constantly. This board is a key to success. The others I've lurked in seem more like a Q&A board rather than a community. So glad I landed here. :)

I agree!   I don't think I have ever seen a mean spirited post on this baord.  Some of the other boards....not so much.

It is sad that people just can't play nice on the other boards becuase we are all on the same journey.....and we could learn so much from one another.   It also seems that there are just a couple of people on each board that tend to stir things up...makes me wonder if they were the bully or mean girl in school....and then many others follow suit.

Good Morning!

I didn't have a lot of time to lurk around.  My doc suggested surgery Mid October 2009, went to orientation mid-November, met surgeon mid-December and had surgery mid-February.  I started out on lapbandtalk, heard of the sleeve and switched to verticalsleevetalk, then discovered OH and moved over here.  I think I may have read the VSG board for awhile but then settled in here with the LW's.  I don't remember how I found the LW's but once I did, I was home.  I love this board because everyone is so supportive and non-judgemental, or at least keeps to themselves if they are judging.

I'm spending far less time on the computer now that my back injury is healed.  It seems like I work, exercise, eat, sleep and browse the LW's to keep up with how everyone is doing.   I'll try to post more on the weekends because I actually have a little more time then.

Now I have internet (YEA) I have more access to the board on the weekends.  Before I had to use Toms computer on an aircard (UGH).

I think as the temps start getting warmer more people will be outside keeping busy, but it doesn't really take but a few minutes to hop on and see how others are doing, or if you have something you want to post about or even brag about an NSV!!

My first attempt at posting on OH was a rude awakening for me.  I'm not sure where I was but it was a chat room and the posters were down right nasty!!   I fell in love with the LW board thanks to Major Mom, JuneCleaver, MacMadame, SusieWong and many others.

I think I sometimes give the LW's more credit for my success than I do my RNY.  Yes, the surgeons gave me a tool to help with my weight loss but the wonderful posters on the LW board taught me how to use it.  THANK YOU.......!!!!!!!

I've been trying to post more but I'll try a little harder.  I just looked back to page 500 and saw so many familiar faces that don't post anymore and it is sad that very few stick around after they get to goal.  I owe the boards so much that I can't imagine not being here to pay forward.

I'm in agreement with everyone--this board is the best support possible.  Gina gets major thanks for being the unofficial guru of the board.  I still look at the main and RNY boards, but post almost exclusively to LW.

I especially like how we have fashion posts, exercise posts, NSVs, etc.  They really keep me going and are probably a big part of why I am being successful on this journey.

Newbies and lurkers--join in the fun!
