Thanks for the support.  I am still open on Thurs and Friday unless the Dr ends up scheduling during then.  I have a meeting now at 6 on Wed night so maybe wait to call until 8 ish.  I'm sure we can figure out something.

 Wow Price,

What a bizarre incident you had.  You are so fortunate that there were others around who made sure you got to the hospital.  Sounds like the same thing that happened to the two reporters recently but I know they said one of them had an atypical migraine.

Back to zumba already?  You are very competitive with yourself!

As for the aspirin,  (and of course I am not a doctor), there are other blood thinners which aren't NSAIDs.  I take coumadin, there is Plavix and now something new which for many people can replace coumadin.  Just saying, in case they want you to take something long term.

Good to hear you are back to normal.

I asked about plavix and other possibilities and the neuro said they had just as many gastro problems as asprin.  I will talk to my PCP about it.  Seems like there would be something.
One of the alternative diagnosis is atypical migraine.  That would be another thing they would look into if it ever happens again.  Lets hope I'm done with it.

Let's hope.  Until that reporter at the Emmys had that kind of migraine I had never heard of it.  I know if you take coumadin you can't take NSAIDS.  That's why I wasn't bothered by the fact that RNY means no NSAIDS.  I've been on coumadin for years so I haven't had a NSAID anyway!  Never had any gastro problems from the coumadin but it does cause all sorts of other problems. I hope tthey figure out an easy solution for you and I'm glad you are on the mend so quickly Price

((((((Price))))))0 sounds scarey ! Weird things really Do happen in the brain ONCE and never again though ..

I had an epileptic attack ( a full grand mal seizure ) from binging on 5 big macs after dieting and exercising rigorously for some weeks years ago .....

never happened again ( never darkened the door of Mickey Ds again either though lol) and no history of epilepsy before or since . I don't take meds for it .

prayers and hugs for U Sweetie .

For what its worth , I really like the idea of the aspirin for U know ( docs recommend it to ameliorate the possible damage caused by even the mildest possible mini-strokes and heart incidents just as a preventive just-in-case-thats -what -it-was measure ... ) and maybe even ginger tea or ginger containing food which kind of does the same thing in the long term ( thins the blood , helps prevent strokes in Oriental medicine ) . Spices like cloves , cinnamon , allspice even hot pepper also do the same thing to a lesser degree .

Huperzine - A is a Chinese herb again used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine and available in any health food store , very very safe and side effect free that really helps me with memory and mental gymnastics . I like using it because it helps heal/strengthen the neuron connections in the brain , because it works DRAMATICALLY effectively and because its time tested and entirely safe and side effect free.

Thanks for the herbal info.  I was going to talk Wed to my Chrio also because he is up on all that.  I don't like the thought of ulcers and would like to not take the asprin daily but don't want a stroke either.  One of the alternative diagnosis is epilespy which they would look into if it ever happens again.  But for now, I seem to be fine.

Price!!  I'm so glad you're ok!  That must have been so frightening.

I don't take baby aspirin but I do take 2 potassium  and 1 magnesium daily along with my other vits.   Eating low carb, my potassium really tanks and if I fail to take it, i get leg cramps when i'm asleep.  It's not pretty so I do everything I can to avoid it.

Hyland's Leg Cramp Medicine (homeopathic, sublingual) really really works.  I started using it as a Rural Route Carrier when my foot would cramp up and I couldn't stop to deal with it.  I keep a bottle by my bedside and toss 4 under my tongue if I get leg cramps.  They go away within a couple of minutes (or I take more as needed until they do!)  Cheapest place to buy (especially if in bulk because of flat rate shipping) is www.vitacost.com

Oh great suggestion Ruthie.  I'm putting together an order at vitacost as we speak!  I always prefer homeopathic.
