instead of the peanuts...

heart-healthy nuts: English Walnuts, pistachios, pine nuts? More calories, but more omega-6 oils. Pumpkin seeds: higher in protein and some minerals but lower in some vitamins than peanuts....and the salt can be higher in some brands.

Wasabi peas.  They're crunchy like a peanut, but fewer calories and fat. Per 1/4 cup serving: 120 cals, 3 g fat, 4 g protein, 19 g carbohydrate (2 g sugar).  They weigh less than peanuts, so if you compare them by weight, the differences between peanuts and peas would be more signficant.

Of course, my favorite snack: edamame.  Try the dry roasted wasabi edamame.  1/4 cup: 140 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 7 grams of fiber, 14 grams of protein, and 9 grams carbs.

Compared to peanuts: 200 calories, 18 g fat, 3 g fiber, 9 g protein, 6 g  carbs. (Pretty high fat content for us folks who don't malabsorb the fat that you DSers do)

always nice to have options.

I think I'll hit Whole Foods and see if I can find the wasabi and edamame snacks. I've tried soy snacks and I'm not crazy about those, but I'll try the edamame and wasabi and see if I like them. Thanks!

Good for you for nipping it in the bud. That was my big mistake last time. I should have caught that 10lbs before it became 100lbs. Now I don't even plan on letting it go to 10lbs. Right now I don't worry because I eat pretty much the same things every day so I know any weight gain is water. I have been eating a little more carbs a day then I used to. I have been getting in 60 to 70 a day instead of keeping it under 50. I have been having Bariatric Foodie's salted caramel pudding and that added 20 right there so I think after my last pudding cup today I will stop those.
Anyway, I have decided that my ultimate goal weight is going to be 120lbs for now, with the range being 120 to 125. Once I hit 120lbs I am going to start to get serious about learning to maintain. If I get there. My body may decide differently but this is plan B in case it doesn't.

I think you are on to something with the bars!  For me the scale has been creeping up and I know I have not been perfect but I have added the protein bars back into my life and since you mentioned it the time frame is almost to the T with the scale!  I like them as I feel it helps with the sweet cravings.  I think I may need to seek out another snack!

Good luck, Gina. Hope that scale starts moving in the other direction...and soon!

I"m really careful with the Rockin' Roll bars too. I only buy a handful at a time and only a couple of times a year.

But I'm also at the point where I can't judge what is going on by the scale. I am at my highest weight since I called "goal", but today I fit into my smallest jeans -- which for a month now I've been avoiding due to not really fitting any more. All my other clothes are loose too.
