A slow start.....
I am getting in nearly 60oz of fluids and 60-65 of protein and 400-500 caloriesa day. But I have only lost 4 pounds since surgery. I know that they pump you full of fluids and you need to lose that, but seems like I should be losing more. I have been weighing daily and I didn't even lose an ounce from yesterday to today....what gives??
I was really expecting that I would lose more my first month and at this rate not so much. I did lose 10 pounds pre-op so I know that I should be happy with actually losing a combined 14 pounds in the last 4 weeks total.

Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong??
4 pounds in the first week is Awesome!!! Those 4 pounds are just the beginning of this exciting journey!!!! You need to post your progress in a journal, profile, or ticker so you can watch as the numbers climb and the scales come down. It gets to be very exciting!!!
If you haven't already taken your measurments you need to do that. Have you taken your before pictures? It is so much fun to be able to visually see our success.

NOw, 4 lbs in ONE week is awesome. But you are gonna make yourself nuts if you watch the scale. Bani**** for the week.

I lost a lb a day for 2 weeks, then only 4 lbs in the last 3 weeks. If I compared myself to others, I'd go NUTS.
Everybody's body reacts differently. Don't compare yourself~~ just do as the other posters have mentioned, follow your surgeon's guidance, and treat your body well. I took Liz's suggestion (mostly) and only weigh myself 2x a week, for Sunday weigh in, and on Thursdays.
Congrats.

But as you have suggested I am putting the scale in the cupboard and won't get it out until Sunday. I will let you all know what it says!!
Thanks again. It really is awesome to have people like you out there to be the voice of reason!
Now, if you had started out at 350 lbs. you probably would have lost 30 already... would you rather be in that scenario just so you'd see weight loss?? I thought not.
I weighed more right after my surgery because of the fluid and swelling. I wore jeans to the hospital Ha Ha! I had to wear them out unzipped. It really hasn't been that long for you, so you are doing great. Do like Roz suggested, I wish I had taken lots of pictures along the way and measured. It is so neat to see the journey that others have posted.
Take your measurements. Neck, upper chest, bewbies, waist, hips, upper arm, thigh, calf, etc.
Then take pictures. I asked my dear friend who is also my massage therapist, to take my photos and measurements once a month when I come in for my monthly back realignment therapy. The first two weeks I didn't lose weight were horrible, but then I went for my first monthly measurements. I lost 18 inches, 4 and a half on my waist. WOOHOO. And I have photos to compare month to month....
So, there are other things to help you gauge if you're losing.... for example, are the backs of your earrings tight against your ears? (I wore the same earrings for 4 weeks, and THAT'S how I realized I was losing weight in my earlobes.
