Good Morning. Which style is better..

...for a tiny "getting" old lady? I'm not liking this longer hair cut this week. I'll get an appointment for this week and see what she has to say but this cut is kind of driving me to distraction. It's intended to be a Holly Hunter cut but mine doesn't stay this way for long...it goes pretty flat by the end of the day. {sigh} So, do I go back to a shorter cut or give the stylist another chance?

I have another issue that's bothering my self esteem...I'm getting that old lady poochy looking stomach. I've read that this can be from osteoporosis and a weak lower back but not sure about that. I do, and will do more, leaning push-ups to strengthen my core but is this pooch just inevitable as we get older?

Don't know why all this is on my mind this morning. I guess yesterday I was really wishing I was back in uniform and this morning I look and realize I'm too old for that stuff any more.

What's weighing on your minds this morning?

Maybe a change in hairstyle will give you a brighter outlook. I know it usually does for me. As to getting it to stay all day, use product (as your stylist for recommendations) and don't touch your hair during the day. Also, if the style doesn't really work, your hair will grow. I had a pixie cut 4 years ago and I won't go back to it. It looked good, but I just love my long hair more.  I've had hairstylists for best friends for many years, so hair is an interesting topic to me.

As to the pouch, it sounds like toning up all over might help. If you get a balance ball and use it as a chair it strengthens your core which is a big deal for our posture and how we look.

Hope you figure out what works for you.

Can't see your pix.

Skin has been bothering me lately.  When fat was filling it all in, it at least looked normal (fat).  Now it looks like someone put me in a body bag that was a few sizes too big.  I can do the capris instead of shorts and 3/4 lenght shirts but what do I do about a swim suit?  I remember when Rosa was picking out suits and I found, on line a cute one piece but that was before all this started looking so bad.  I don't swim much but any right now is going to be scarey.

I'm hoping for redistributing to help some of it but that won't be anytime soon and I expect it to get worse before it gets better.   So maybe this summer will be bad but next will be ok????

I have too many to list so I will agree with Price, the skin is definately killing me. Are there any sort of extra excercises we can do to help it?

Gina - I got tired of my hair too and went and got it all cut off a few weeks ago.  I can't keep it fluffy either and its flat by the end of the day... frustrating and I DON'T look good in flat hair (never have).  I can use all the styling products in the world - it looks great to start with and sags throughout the day... especially if any wind touches it.

I'm thinking about going even shorter now...

As far as the pooch - not sure what to tell you, but posture and weak back muscles can make a difference....

theres this WONDERFUL exercise device im 100% madly in love with ..and I HATE sit ups crunches n all their ilk ...

its called the ablounge .... and it makes working Ur upper and lower abs and the strong cords on the BACK side that hold U ipright and erect ( that I suspect are the issue here ) FUN !!!

well as much fun as abwork possibly COULD be. Other than that I really recommend rowing .... which will also make ya stand up staright like a tin soldier with the shoulders back and head erect .

I too am very much in love with military correct posture .... geez just correct posture in GENERAL .

Now as far as the hair goes .... dear Gina I think Ure absolutely beautiful no matter what . The pic shows kind of a shag cut .

You may consider this too girly a style but boy would it show off Ur color and texture ....and also flatter Ur face shape .Have U ever considered growing out to a short twenties style chin length or bottom of the ears length bob ?

headbands and clips work wonders with growing out hair ... I think U need to try a few on before U snip ( just suppress the automatic barf reflex for thirty seconds lol) ( in the second picture theres an invisible clip UNDER her hair to hold the style in place and I bet U don't think it looks bad ) ( not all hair accessories are made for kidz! ) .

If U grow Urs long enough Ull be able to do without one eventually by tucking that end behind Ur ear .... but thats a long ways away right now ...

U have beautiful hair ... U have a beautiful face . I like Ur stylist would love to see U do more with that hair than just waste it .... even letting it get 6 inches long in the back from Ur part to the bottom and swing would be amazingly BEAUTIFUL .... and still super easy care .

With todays miraculous shampoos that keep styles straight for three days at a time - all U 'd have to do is blowdry ONCE after U shampoo with a round brush .. and brush when U get up with a tiny bit of water ( to help the style reset itself after U sleep on it and distort it ****il U wash Ur hair again. Literally a thirty second ' Do .

Do  you have an exercise ball?  One great exercise for tightening your abs that is no impact is lying on your back, squeeze the ball between your feet and elevate them with your knee's bent.  Do a few 8 counts of this every day and you will feel the burn in your abs.

Hey Gina.  I'm trying to decide on my own hair before Friday when I have a cut appointment.  Now that my hair is growing in again, I have some options.  The last year was just about keeping it on my head.   I hate the flat hair too.  :(

Now about the tummy, I've been doing mat pilates once a week for 10 weeks, and also doing at home.  This week I'm starting the Pilates Reformer classes (bought 5 to try them).  I find that it's strengthening my core and my tummy and legs are shrinking.  It's helped to heal my back injury from last October.  I'm so behind pilates and hope to do it forever.  My Kaiser has an 8 week class that i'll keep signing up for.  I'm doing yoga as well but credit everything to the pilates.

Not only does my DD coach 300 cheerleaders she is also a hairstylist (for family only now) so I have access to practically every product available and they just don't work for me.  The only thing that works is spraying my hair when it's wet with "Big Sexy Hair" hairspray (lots of it).  I love my shorter spikey look.  It makes me feel so much younger and I get compliments all of the time on it.

Being in the service and now on the other side and still being so consistent with your exercise are having a liitle extra around the mid section  probably does really bother you.  I'm sure you still have your six pack Gina...LOL  I guess even those who exercise daily can still get a little loose skin somewhere.

Me...I gave up on worrying about the extra skin.  Prepaying for sugery is out of the question so I've just got to live with it.   I'm happy right now just looking good in my size 2 jeans. I'm going to start looking for a bathing suit with knee length shorts or I'll just buy a pair of shorts and a cute swim top for FL.  Last summer that's what I did and believe me I looked a lot better

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
