Try new foods.  You might find new favorites.  I don't know if you like to cook or not, I didn't used to but since surgery I've had fun trying new recipes.

You know, Jane, now that I think about it, I have some of the same issues.  I have a few things that I just love for dinner, the other meals I eat because I'm supposed to eat and I'm hungry, but I don't get excited.  The only meal I really look forward to is my turkey burgers with cranberry sauce.  I think I then start grazing because I wasn't satisfied.

I lived in Natchez MS from 1996 until 1999 and had a doctor in Southhaven.  What a very pretty town.

I am 7 months out and am almost to goal.  I totally get where your coming from and I too am worried about continued weight loss after I reach my goal.  Who would have thunk it huh??  I dont eat much dense protein, it just doesnt taste right to me.  I live on my protein shake, pork rinds, nuts and yougart.  I also like eating salad and fruit.  I understand the no taste for food, and while I am greatful, it is a weird situation to be in.  Maybe it is the honeymoon phase, but I am going to be in your shoes soon, so I hope someone can give you a good answer!  I just wanted you to know that you are definately NOTalone.  Good luck to you...and if you find the magic answer, LET ME KNOW!!  lol.....                          Joan

I think I know what  U are talking about  .  My hubby still has the "palate "  of a four hundred plus pound man .

I think  both of U have  to find joy  and  satisfaction in" healthier " food s   .

I am grateful for this thread... I will be 5 months out on Friday (25th), and am actively losing about 1 pound/week. BUT this last week, i lost 4 pounds, and can honestly say it is the first time post--op that I got scared.

I am almost 5'4", and don't think 130# is unrealistic, but I deal with a lot of women on a daily basis, and most think I am much lighter than that. Most say I should stop losing NOW, but i will trust my body, and just this last week landed in a "normal" weight range.

I figure I will need to add an extra meal in when the time comes. It is scary to me, because I don't want to eat when I am NOT hungry! Mind you, I am not complaining. Also, my face is very thin and I have that skinny "turtle neck" going on! At 46 years of age, I don't want to look older than I already am .

Also, I do enjoy food, but have no problems walking away as soon as I feel "full". Will I always have the aid of my hunger hormone being severed??? (Please say "YES"!!!)

My hunger came back ( vehemently ) about a year post . But mentally ... well it never left ... and honestly I dont think preop i hardly ever LET myself get hungry as I was eating literally all the time.
Most of my cravings originate between the ears lol !

I think I would gladly switch with U and be a little less of a foodie ... I mean I go through my days thinking up recipes to try ... literally with visions of Moroccan chickens dancing in my head lol !!

the difference for me now is I dont go back eating another plateful an hour later ( after eating three plates the first time) .... I eat a LOT less ... and I have largely lost my taste for sweets after a number of horrendous kick-my-butt dumping episodes .

The interesting thing for me is trying to get my husband to eat my food ... he hears theres squash in it or Asparagus or Eggplant ... (or just about ANY vegetable lol) he wont even TASTE it .

He is literally USED to eating fatty , salty , stale GARBAGe exclusively ... packeged attractively and flavored slightly differently of course ...

To him there are two food groups ...100 calorie snacks of all varieties ... and frozen entrees from Costco with 27 grams of fat per serving lol. Oh and full fat cheese . Then theres Wendys ... Panera bread , Boston Market and Subway .... and " Diners" where they feed you barf- inducing stale meat thats sat around in a walk in for a month , add a cupful of fat to it ... and rob U without a pistol when U get the bill.

Now I will concede and admit this is a superior selection to Mickey D's and Taco Bell and KFC and Lloyd's ribs on the barbeque ... but not by that much .

When I hear what U are choosing to eat I say no wonder ... lol . Maybe U need to learn to cook and better yet .. find a farmer's market near U .

Jane-
Stop eating junk.  There is no good reason to go back to those habits, even if you start to get to 'light' you need other things for the health of your body. I kind of get what you are saying after my surgery in 2006- I never got to what would be a goal weight for Dr's (hit mine)...but I had complete food aversions.  Inf act when I would see other people eating certain foods it literally made me want to bust out at the seams and tell them or it turned my stomach.  I can recall food not having 'pleasure' associated with it.  I think that is part of the appeal for WLS - you eat because your body needs fuel.  I pray I get back to that mind set this time-still battling head hunger now.  As far as the weight- eat what you should be and see what happens.  I remember forcing myself to eat things I hated at the time, eventually the desire for good tasting healthy foods kicked in.  Talk with your clinic and get their 'professional' opinion.  My Dr's told me up to 12-14 months could be rapid loss and to about 18 months you are about done.  He calls weight loss the hockey stick- it drops, drops and hits that curve where some weight will come back- so being a a little low may help with the regain that happens to almost all patients.  Get back to some WLS basics-Good luck!  (I know!)
