I have to ask... why do we swing lizards?

or other animals?

Or maybe I should ask, where did it start? Do different animals of different colors have different meanings?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's cute, but I was wondering if there was some kind of back story to it?

I come before you to profess my ignorance and beg you to not let me remain so

thanks!!

All ears for this reasoning- I must admit I have heard swinging chickens; and while I know what people mean by it- I feel like I am missing something to it.

Depending on our timing of WHEN we jumped into this forum, it is perfectly "normal" to have that question mark thingy above our heads until someone comes along and explains it. I wondered too (Back in August) and thank goodness had it explained to me...

Well, one of the other forums adopted (I think) chickens to "swing" as a way of wishing someone *****quested, luck. Or, it is a way of sending "prayers" to someone who needs it. Lizards were adopted in this site because.... Well, I don't remember why ... I am sure sombody will happen along and clarify that.

But in a nutshell, when anyone here hollars out to "swing lizards", we all jump to it, and do out BEST! Hope this helps...

I figured that it was a non-demoninational way of wishing someone best in some endeavor in lieu of prayer, but it's good to have that clarified as well.

I have never heard of swinging chickens either...

Hopefully someone has the stories I so desperately crave :) Thanks to those who have answered. I figured I couldn't be the only one who did not know what was going on

The lizards came from SusieWong. She was a regular before she fell in love and moved to Texas. Anyway, she didn't have any chickens to swing one day so she said she was going to pick up a lizard that was sunning itself on her patio and swing that instead.

And it caught on.
