im an RNYer but i tolerated fresh spinach puree from very early out and really enjoyed it .
i make it this way - chop 4 cloves garlic saute in pan until fragrant . add ( 2 bunches ) spinach and wilt sightly . wait till it cools - puree . Add tiny bit of milk ( with cornstartch if necessaryto thicken ) and a bit of butter buds if U like .
put back on stove heat through and serve . Bright green delicious and so nutritious ... and did I mention.... heaven on a plate taste wise ?
otherwise the trick is to choose not aggressively fibrous veggies ( baby lettuce , mesclun leaves are PERFECT ) and chew chew chew each bite thirty times before swallowing it . Ull get much more NUTRITION out of Ur saladthis way ... and Ull find it doesnt bother Ur insides either .
We ex- overeaters have a tendency to INHALE our food without proper chewing and thaat gets us into trouble post op particularly with fibrous veggies lol.
however I WOULD stay away from the broccoli/ cauliflower /kale / collard green family for a while because they cause gas ( or at least have gas x handy ! ) and also the fibrous outside parts of say oranges .... I got into trouble with those ...
