Good morning
Hello, I have been involved in OH for about a year but I have been in the Ontario forum because there is a lot of differences between what is available for us in Canada compared to what is available in the US. But now that I have a lot of time under my belt I feel as though I can expand into this forum to concentrate on my being a lightweight and the struggles that go along with that.
I am six months out from my surgery and down 56 pounds from then but I am down 82 pounds since my first appointment with my bariatric clinic 13 months ago. Sometimes, because I am silly, I compare my slow weight loss to those who have more to lose and think I should be at the clinic's goal already. But then I see the progress chart by Diminishing Dawn and realize I am doing well. I certainly appreciate this type of information that keeps me informed and encouraged.
My clinic set a weight of 155 which would still have me in the overweight range in a BMI chart and though 13 months ago I thought that was a good number I now see that I need to go lower. I can see that 17.5 pounds more won't get rid of enough of the fat on my body. I want the batwings that I have to be just skin and not to have any fat in them and 17 pounds loss won't be enough.
I am in week 6 of the "couch to 5k" training and I am so pleased with the fact I can run a 20 minute run without dying. Being able to run again is a dream that I am realizing and I appreciate this surgery and the healthy changes that are happening.
I think that is a good start on an introduction, looking forward to getting to know you all.
Liz

Good morning, Liz. Good to have you here. Sounds like you're right on target and have a great plan in mind to get you the rest of the way there.

Hi Liz and welcome.
I did the same thing with a goal. I picked something I thought I could live with, but was still in the overweight range. Now I am there and see that I can go lower, even if it is slowly.
Great to have you join us.

Hi Liz and welcome! I did the couch to 5K program once and it worked well. Now I should get into it again as I've totally gotten out of exercising.....
Lose to where you're comfortable, and your body usually knows where that's at.

Hello Liz,
I'd love to try the couch to 5k. Not sure how to get that started. I regularly go to zumba, and just bought the 30 day shred with Jillian Michael's. I was able to do her level 1 yesterday with little problem, but have decided, I am a total weakling with push ups! I gotta work on that....
Weight goals around here can change like the weather... You'll know when your fit is right. I am thinking 130 due my medium frame, and feel good now near 140 (I am still actively losing). Time will tell as to where I eventually "land". Good luck!

Kiminey, you can find a program on the iTunes, podcast sessions which follows a week by week running schedule and it starts slow and easy. You can also repeat the sessions if you do not feel you are ready to move on to the next week.
Otherwise, if you do a search online you can find a printed version for a running schedule. I just like the podcast because it tells me when to run and when to walk.
