It will be a week from tomorrow that I had my surgery

I have to say the incision just under the breast line bothers me the most.  Sleeping has been really uncomfortable do to the bersistus I have in my hips ontop of the soreness I feel from my surgery.  I normally sleep on my stomach but that is not going to happen for a while. LOL  So far I seem to be loosing 2 Ibs a day. I am sure that will stop soon. LOL  But I will take what I can take off for now. LOL I knew it could happen but I was just hopping that It was not going to happen to me, I started my ........ yesterday. :(  I just got over it 2 weeks ago.  The last thing that I wanted to was to have to deal with this curse along with dealing with healing from my surgery.  I am really hoping this coming week that I will feel much better because I have to start work April 1st.  At this point I can't even imagine that.  I can't get comfortable no matter how I sit or lay.  Today I have been extremely thirsty, not hungry, just thirsty.  I still can only take in 1 to 2 oz of food at a time or I should say liquid.  My legs are pretty unsteady, especially in the Am when I get out of bed.  Sometimes I feel like I still have the fog from anesthia.  I have been trying to go without the pain meds my dr gave me but that is not working out so well.  I think yesterday was my day for thinking "what did I do to myself".  I think I am feeling a tad bit better today.  It is nice and sunny out so I am going to go talk another walk.
Have a great day!!!

Hey Kim,

I was exactly where you are a week ago.  I felt so sore and uncomfortable and fatigued.  It IS getting better day by day.  Like you I am concerned though about returning to work....I am supposed to return this tuesday but am thinking I will stay home one extra day.  My stamina is not that great and I passed out friday night during the night and it scared me.

I am sore at the same spot you are (where my drain was) but again this is getting better.  I am also a stomach sleeper and am back to sleeping some on my stomach.  I also have had several moments of "why did I do this?" and have been turning to others who say this is normal and I WILL be happy about this choice soon.  I will say compared to a week ago when I was 5 days out of surgery I am starting to feel so much more like myself and able to do more and more.   I have been lucky though and am doing good at getting the fluids in.

Good luck to you!

Boy that would be hard if your a stomach sleeper.  I used to sleep on my side before surgery, but now I'm a back sleeper for some strange reason.  Maybe because my sides are a lot bonier now...lol

You could try cutting your pain meds in half.  It took me a good 2 months before I felt really good.

If you have time you should write everything down in a journal or on your profile page because every day will be better and soon these days will be forgotten.

I can relate to the sleeping pain, but mine was back pain from -- according to the NP-- lying on the board during surgery.  Took 3 weeks for most of that pain to go away, and that was the real reason I took any pain meds.

I walked 5-7 minutes at the end of every hour.  I walked around my house: through the family room into the kitchen, and around again.  Before I walked, I put a 2 oz glass of fluid on the counter.  Every time I walked through the kitchen, I took a sip.  Within a week, I went from 1 oz to 3 oz at a time, and since I did that every hour while awake, I got more fluids than I would have normally.  I also set a timer for 30 minutes and drank 3 oz every 30 minutes.

Hmmm... maybe I should do that now, since I'm not getting enough fluids now.

I spent at least a good part of the night, everynight in the beginning in a recliner.  When I did go to bed, it was with pillows supporting everything.  I am, was, a stomach sleeper also due to bursistis in my hips.  I can do that again now but it took quite a while.  It will come, be patient.

The first weeks are not fun.  I did get better each day but was glad I didn't have to rush back to a job (I work from home and could do it in little spurts).   I was maybe 2-3 months out before I really had any energy even though I felt a bunch better.  I think it was when my D3 level finally came up but that is just my thought.
