Have you tried to make yourself heavier for approval?
I had to make sure I was over 220 lbs and it was so hard to try and do it through calories... pasta, sweets, breads, fried foods. yuck. The day of my final weigh in though, I did wear thermal underwear, extra socks, 3 layers of shirts, heavy weight jeans, hiking boots and two rolls of quarters. Just to make sure I cleared it... and I did by 4.5 lbs. Whew!
yea, making sure they have your height correct in barefeet is important. That stupid bmi is just a number on a chart and they shouldn't be relying on it so confounded much! Good luck, you'll figure it out!

the easiest thing to do is practice sticking Ur neck way forward and hunching Urself way down . in other words measure 3-4 inches SHORTER then Ur BMI counts as lower . That should do the trick 4 U . Ifthey tell Uto stand up straight say it ts the best U can do and stick Ur head even further forward lol!
they make weight belts that can add up to 45 lbs but theyre very tricky to use because they add a lot of bulk as well... and Ud have to have the balls of a brass monkey to try to get away with that in a doctors changing room situation .
Not saying U couldnt get away with it .. but expect them to want to see Ur tum - tum at some point to check for scar tissue etc especially if U have already had surgery . Personally I can gain 15 lbs very easily just by eating nuts and Chinese food .... the rest i woudl take care of by scooching down.
25 lbs really isnt a lot to finagle when Ure seriously desperate ... I was in exactly the same boat as U 18 months ago and I GOT insurance to pay for my surgery ....

Gaining 25 lbs for me would be easy. I did that from Jan 2010 when I weighed about 190 to July when I weighed 218. And that was after WLS. When I went back to the surgeon I thought I needed a 40 BMI and mine was 38.6 so I told them I was 5'2", making my BMI 39.8. They didn't bother measuring me. Then I found out it wasn't necessary because I had more then 2 co-morbidities so all I needed was a 35 BMI. I really thought I was 5'2" because I had measured that at one point but 5'3" is what I used for the first surgery. Anyway, I was measured recently and I am 5'3".
WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010
High Weight (2002) 240 Revision Weight (2010) 220 Current Weight 115.
Well, don't shoot the messenger. 25 is a lot to "pad". Maybe gain like 10-15. That is pretty easy with milkshakes, eating at restaurants, etc.
The other tricks like adding weights-I tried ankle weights. BUT my ankles were too fat for them! I thought they woulkd fit in my boots but they were too bulky. I kept them for when I do lose weight. Now the other options I thought about, what about those insulated pants that outdoor workers/skiers wear? Try google or ebay.
Also there are weighted workout vests that are sold at Wal Mart and online. They weigh up to 15-20 pounds for women. I have no idea how they fit. AND like another poster said you have to figure out how to get it off before the Dr. comes in to feel you up. My surgeon's office poked at me quite a bit so I would've needed to go to the bathroom right after getting off the scale if I were going to try anything..Lucky for me I am right at 40% bmi. I have co-morbids but they are the 2 major ones my ins is looking for.

I am always someone amazed when this subject comes up and a bunch of people post in a public forum about how they committed insurance fraud. Aren't you afraid some insurance rep will read your post and then come after you to get you to pay for your WLS or -- worse -- prosecute you for fraud which would include paying penalties on top of the cost of your surgery?
I would be. If you've talked about wearing weights under your clothes, you might want to consider deleting your posts and/or editing them to say "some I know did ..." just to be safe.

I did that once. It was probably a bad idea but I was affraid of not being approved too. I would say that you can probably add about 15 pounds, plus they let you keep your shoes on so you could use that as help too. I used weights, weights wraps and small weights that you can out under your arms.
In the end I went to Mexico anyway because as it turned out insurance would not cover VSG anyway...If you PM me I can probably give you some more specifics....$30K is a lot. That's college tuition.
