I currently want to vise from the band to the sleeve. My BMI is too low now for insurance approval.
I need ideas on how to make myself 25 lbs heavier so I don't have to pay out of pocket.
Help with ideas?
Quarter rolls? Weights?
How can I do this to save 30,000 grand
Please help

Well, I think 25 pounds is a bit too much for a pocket full of quarters, a huge Chinese dinner or a gallon of water. You don't have any mechanical failure of the band to get you through insurance?

Hi there im really interested in having the sleeve done. My insurance will only cover a bariatric procedure if my BMI is 40 + or 35 + with diabetes or high blood pressure.

Im about 5-10 lbs away is there any way i can make myself a little heaver at my doctors office weigh in to qualify ? Please Advise. I feel helpless and depressed over this and im a single parent with no help.

I didn't have to make myself heavier, well, not by much. I did have to get them to remeasure cause the first time she did, she told me I was under a 35BMI. I managed to scooch down without her noticing and managed a 35.2 somehow. Then I had to keep from losing anything at all from then to my surgery date.

Unless you are like me, who could gain 25 lbs very quickly, I just don't see how you can do this. Have you thought about going to Mexico? It costs a lot less there.

I didn't make myself heavier to get approval, but I did gain weight after I scheduled surgery because I stopped dieting. I didn't save $30K, I went to Mexico and paid <$10K. But, now my husband wants surgery and is thinking about wearing jeans and putting 5 pound plate weights in his pockets. I had one surgeon suggest wearing heavy clothes and carrying extra weights. Be sure to weigh with shoes on . . .better yet, work boots.

Good luck on the adventure.

Shoot me, But iI will be honest when I went to the Doc I did stuff 20lbs of weights in my bra. After I weighed and went to the room to see the Doc, I was taking them out to stuff them in my purse and my Hubby was like what the HELL are you doing????
I did cheat, But by the time I had surgery I was at that weight anyway... My Hubby had surgery 6 months before I did but he had a BMI of 50, He has lost so far 115lbs.. Me only 40 But I had surgery in Jan 2011

Please dont think bad of me for being truthful...

I didn't have to do that this time, but I tried for surgery in 2003 and I had someone tell me to put on ankle weights and eat a bunch of ice cream. :)
