Pants help!!

So, now that I am wading into non-plus-sized territory, I have NO IDEA how to dress my bottom half anymore! I have always had a rather generous behind (lovingly called the ghetto onion) and thick, muscular legs. Finding pants that cover my butt were not a problem when shopping at Lane Bryant, but now that I'm venturing into "regular" stores.. I have NO IDEA what brands will cover my big ol' butt and am kind of afraid to try on pants after I tried on some Dockers brand khakis that didn't even go halfway up! Does anyone have any ideas for the brands I might want to try? (I looked at Levis curvy series, but they only have up to size 32" waist in that kind, and I'm not there yet.)

Thanks!
Abby

Wish I could help, Abby but I think pants are the hardest.  Plus I lost my butt first.  I can wear anywhere between a 14 and an 8, as of shopping this morning.  It is totally rediculous.  Plus some times the same brand, the same size doesn't fit. I'm still Thrift Storing so I just try everything on and go with what fits.  Today one was an 8 even when there are 14s I still think are too tight.

This really is uncharted territory!  It does have a lot with the way you are built and you are just going to have to be in the frame of mind to "try everything on".  I still have to and am consistently in a size 4... they all just fit differently.

I can't help you with sizes that are generous in different parts of the body - sorry.  I also find Dockers are a slim fit and its very hit and miss with me too.

You may want to go to a thrift store.  They have all kinds of brands, all together in sizes (like Goodwill).  You can grab a couple of different brands/styles without having to run all over a regular store (like Kohls).  Plus these pants have been washed numerous times, so you'll know how they'll fit after a few washings.

I had forgotten about Goodwill! Thanks, Jody! I really don't care what size in whatever brand I end up buying, I just want them to fit. :) I'm sizing out of Lane Bryant, whose pants fit me pretty well, and I need to have something on bottom when I'm teaching. ;)

I you am glad asked this question and i will be watching this thread for answers. I have also never had a less than ample bottom with the legs to support it. The result are pants that never fit in the waist. It can be fairly frustrating when you are trying to dress cute and there is a 2" gap between the back of your pants and your actual back. Not classy at all

Yup, I had that even when I was thin. I am resigned to the fact that I will likely have to have jeans tailored in the waist, but it's such a pain.

I should check out ON. I used to hate their pants because they were so freaking cheap and the buttons would fall off or seams would rip or they would wear out. I wonder if they improved their manufacturing at all.

What's Academy? Is it a store? I don't think we have that where I live. I'll google it when I'm done replying. :)
