I want to eat a bagel SOOOO bad
It's super easy!
I think this is the size bowl I use to cook it in, you can use whatever size you want.

I spray the bottom with a little Pam olive oil spray, add 4 tablespoons of flax meal, a sprinkle of salt, 1/2 tsp of baking powder and mix well. Then I add 50 grams of egg whites (I use the stuff from a box) Mix well and make sure it's all even in the bottom of the container.
Microwave on high for 1 minute, check to make sure the top is dryi**** may need another 20-30 seconds. Take a rubber spatula and run it around the edges and slide it underneath and pop out the flatbread and put it on a wire rack top side down to "dry" out the bottom a little for a few minutes. Toast and enjoy!
If you make it in a bigger container and the batter is thinner cook it for less time, be careful not to toast it for too long or it will turn into a cracker. :0)
The stats for the recipe above are as follows per dailyplate:
185 calories
9.6 g carbs
9.6 g fiber
9.8 g protein
You could easily reduce the egg by 10 or so grams and flax by a tablespoon and make a "thinner" slice thus reducing the calories a bit.
I cut my slice in half and use it for breakfast sandwich's and it's GREAT for grilled cheese sammies as well!
I make a smaller version if I just want it as a piece of toast to have with turkey bacon and eggs.

Yasmeen, are those net carbs or the full amount of carbs? Not all of us count just the net carbs.

I don't count net carbs, just making sure of the full carb count. Thanks for answering.

As a diabetic, I count all carbs, simple & complex. I have to, as they all affect my blood sugar levels. That's why I asked. Liz

I love Yasmeens flaxseed option . The flaxseed itself keeps U full- thosefats are wat our body craves and are absolutely necessary ( not to mention the fiber ) . The eggwhites aregreat protein . And it tastes great .
Ok im a sinner . I love to bake . This is why Ms Yasmeen is so beautifully thin n defined and im , well , not quite yet . Im also not quite modeling weight grrrr.
I eat fat free carbs but only those and not a lot of them . I try to eat em in the morning if i must have em so they give me energy to burn off rather than a big stomach as they will later on in the day ..
this morning for breakfast before leaving for my construction project I made fresh fat free buttermilk scones and yes they were absolutely yummo. I also have to feed GUYS so no carbs arent really an option... they never notice the fat free though .
i had a few throughout the day
i dont think i will want any baked goods tomorrow .
as a general rule I am able to step away from the bread popcorn , pretzels and carby treats these days much better now that I realize ( even fat free ) carbs basically were making me fat .
Still I would choose a fatfree carb in a MINUTE over a normal one lol...
A couple of things that help me are - I dont have to FINISH anything
I really have to ENJOY it to keep eating it at all
if its not freshly made, fat free, organic, usually whole grain absolutely yummy and super-tempting im just not likely to be tempted by it ( like bagels dont really tempt me anymore nor most breads )
i try to ask myself if im THIRSTY first to turn to FRESH food first , to eat FRUIT first and baked goods as a last resort . But by eating a LITTLE and not depriving myslef I dont feel like I'm on a diet ....
and by the way I NEVER EVER EVER eat those " protein " fatty ( and highly fattening ) candy bars that masquerade as something good for you lol .... and since I'm not eating CHEESE or fats either i kind of get away with this little carby " cheat "
I WOULDNT if I was eating FAT

Sweetie, it's not just eating right that keeps me this way, it's HOURS of exercise a day. :0)
And my secret weapon is Billy Blanks! He's my hero. :0) I bought an exercise ball kit of his that has totally transformed my body. I have mucles that I never knew existed! LOL
Like you I love baked goods and my real weakness is ice cream and you know what I eat it EVERY day!
I make REALLY thick protein shakes by adding lots of ice and eat it with a spoon, that totally satisfies my ice cream craving. I bake a Flax muffin/cake with added protein powder pretty much every day.
