There are deer in my neighborhood all the time and it scares me that one will jump out at me anytime.  In my mini cooper, it wouldn't be pretty.  And phones.  I have been used to the mini and blue tooth so I can talk and drive with both hands but since it has been in the shop and I have been driving the truck, oh dear.  What a pain.  I just have to tell folks I will call them back.  It isn't work trying to navagate a truck and deal with a phone too.

So glad you didn't get hurt.  Spreadsheet stuff can wait till today.

Stacey - that's exactly what happened to me.  There are deer everywhere around here, and someone I was talking to yesterday said they saw another car sitting on the side of the road, by a dead deer, on the same road - same stretch yesterday.

You'd better believe I'll be watching in that stretch!

Makes me realize how lucky I have been. At least twice I have had deer run out in the road and fortunately I was able to stop. Last time was on the way home from my boyfriend's house. I was slowed down anyway because I was coming up to a stop sign and I saw these glowing eyes. I thought it was a dog but it was a pair of deer. I am super careful now when I drive on that road.

Oh Jody, sorry that you had such a rough day....
Yeah, BBerries and driving don't mix.  I just leave mine in my purse, turn on the radio or a book on tape and chill out.  The crazy people seem to take the same route and time to be on the road as me, and I need good music to chill out with.

We have deer all over, we live in a rural area.  Sometimes I forget and fly down our country roads, then end up leaving tire marks on the pavement when a deer steps into the road.

Could be worse.  Once when I was in college in PA, my friend and I were coming home from a night out in spring, singing our hearts out to the radio, windows down to enjoy the spring air.  We came around a bend in the road and almost hit a black bear scratching its shoulder on a guardrail on the right side of the road.  I'm in the passenger seat, driver screaches to a halt right beside the bear.  Window down, remember?  Bear turns to look inside the car, still scratching itself, and I am frozen in time staring at a bear that is so close I can see the inside of its nostrils.
And I whisper to my girlfriend "Hit the gas, damnit. I can see the bear's boogers."

True story.
