Fluid in "old stomach"
I am a 17 months post RNY bypass patient. The other day I had severe abdominal pain that started in my belly button, radiated to the left and right and then through to my back. The pain was pretty severe, made me nauseous and I threw up. I went to my family doctor who ordered a CT scan with oral and IV contrast and he just called with the results. Apparently I have fluid in my "old stomach" and he told me to contact my bariatric surgeon right away which I did. Now I am playing the waiting game and slowly starting to freak out......has anyone else had this happen and what did your surgeon do?

I haven't seen it discussed here before but that doesn't mean someone else hasn't. I wish you a quick resolution and no more painful attacks. Please keep us posted.

Just heard from my surgeon. As long as I am not in pain or vomiting I can wait until tomorrow morning and see him in his office at 9am. If I have any pain or vomiting I am to head directly to the ER. They suspect an internal hernia and partial blockage but will know more after the exam and review of the CT report.
Prayers appreciated!

Glad you are doing better now. Hopefully the resolution will be simple and you won't be in pain anymore.
I'd hope that as far out as you are, you would be past complications but I guess we really never are.
