Going Out of Town
So tomorrow afternoon, my hubby will be dropping off my daughter (she is 11) and I at the airport to head to sunny Florida. She has a cheer competition in Daytona Beach and while we are in the area, I am taking her to Disney World for a few days. While I am excited about this trip and looking forward to some Mother/Daughter time, I am very nervous about this trip. I am only a month out and just recently started eating soft foods this week. I am really worried that I am going to have a hard time getting all my protein in. I know my liquid intake will be fine as they are calling for warm weather and I will be drinking lots to stay hydrated. I hope that I can find high protein foods wherever we eat. I am not trying to spend a fortune eating considering that I am only eating an ounce or two at a time, but I know I need to be making the right choices. I guess when I come back on Tuesday evening I will be able to see how well I did. I will miss being on OH and having everyone's post to read and help me. I'm nervous, but I know that this is my new life and I need to do this at some point, the sooner the better right???
I agree with G. I. Jane. Take your protein powder with you and depend on shakes for your protein while you're out of town. You can probably get some protein via food but it could take up a lot of time and add stress you don't want while you're down there. Have fun, babeeee!

I traveled for business at about a month out. I agree with everyone else, drink your protein. It is just easier to manage. I got sick a couple of times because my pouch wasn't ready for the foods available for me to eat. I was much more comfortable with my Nectar than searching for things that would suit my new pouch.
Have a great time! She is only 11 once and Disney should be a blast for the two of you.

Sounds like a great trip and you will enjoy the weather.
I agree about taking your protein. Hopefully there will be a frig in your room (or ask for one) and keep yogurt and cheese sticks in that) Babybell doesn't have to be refrigerated. On soft foods, I took packs of high protein oatmeal with me for breakfast since what the bars had were limited. Otherwise, I stuck to yogurt and things that were portable. Hopefully Disney will have some low sugar yogurt. When we ate out at night, I did soup that was made from foods I had tried before so I wasn't risking getting sick somewhere out.
Have a great trip and good luck to your DD on her competition.

fat free cottage cheese saved me many a time ( U can just hop into any grocery U pass and buy some ) also fatfree chese slices I keep in my purse to this day . They dont easily go bad at all ..
There are also some yummy ready made protein shakes in those higher end grocery stores ..in the produce / vegetarian section of all places from something ( Bolton ?) farms. The Chai tea flavor is really drinkable ...
