Any "Lightweights" from Ontario?

I am hoping to connect with any "lightweights" from Ontario that had their surgery through OHIP.  I have had my orientation (February) and my dietitian, nurse, and social worker appt. is the end of April.  My BMI is 37.7 and I have type 2 diabetes with borderline high cholesterol but as I have less than 100 lbs to lose I get nervous thinking I may not be approved.  Just wondering if there is anyone like myself who has gone through the Ontario system and had some information they could share.

Thanks
Elizabeth

I have not - BUT - I live in Michigan and know there are OHIP approved people that come here for their surgery.....

Not sure what the requirements are or how its approved... have you tried an Ontario board?  I know being a lightweight and posting about it on another board could be an issue...

HW-218/SW-208/CW-126/ Lowest Weight-121/Goal-125 - hit 8/23/09/Height-5'3"

Regain 30 lbs from 2012 to 2016 - got back on track and lost it.  Took 8 months.
90+/- pounds lost

Starting BMI between 35 and 40ish?

I am from Ontario, and have had surgery through OHIP. I weighed 250lbs at consult and at the time of my surgery date being booked I was down to 225lbs. I had type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. You will be approved with a BMI of 35 or under with 2 co-morbidites, or a BMI of over 35 without. I had my surgery in ottawa 9mths ago and could not be happier. I am down to 143lbs and no more diabetes and no more high blood pressure. Take care and add me as a friend.

OH! OH!
Well sorta. I am in Calgary. My sister is in London though and had her RNY
covered by OHIP 3 years ago. They sent her to Denver for it. I'm not sure that they do
the out of country anymore, but they definitely have a much shorter weight period than
anywhere else in Canada. Alberta health care has a 6-8 year weight. WOOOW!
Good luck :)

I'm from Ontario and had my surgery paid for by OHIP a year and a half ago.  Come and join us on the Ontario board, if you like.
