1 Month Post Op
So today I am 1 month post surgery and things have gone well. However I am a little discouraged with my weight loss. I have lost 20 lbs since the day of surgery, but I feel like it should be more. Am I expecting too much, especially since I was a light weight when I started this process. The day of surgery I weighed 194 lbs. I know that 20 lbs is nothing to sneeze out, I have never lost so much in 1 month, but I am really afraid that I will not make it to goal if I keep losing only 2-3 lbs a week. I have my goal set at 125 lbs, if I can lose more, that would be great. I am not sure if I am eating enough or if I have my body in starvation mode. I do get my protein in daily as well as my fluids. I exercise at least 5 times a week. I am getting in about 600-700 calories a day, however sometimes it is a struggle as I just don't want to eat and have to force myself to eat. I know I should be happy and don't get me wrong, I am. I guess the fear that I am not going to be successful is starting to set in. I also started my soft food diet this week and I am afraid that I am going to overeat and not lose any weight. Any advice from anyone? Is this normal to feel this way?
I am behind you a few weeks but everything I have read indicates you are doing everything right. I think what you are feeling is normal and is anxiety. I can not imagine you not losing especially with being a lightweight. That said, I have been surprised by my weight loss at week one (in a good way)......I think in the back of everyone's mind is I WILL FAIL THIS TOO. I am anxious about having the energy to return to work, the transition to pureeds, yet am grieving food at the same time. I think this is all normal........
Hang in there!!!!

Congratulations on your -20 pounds. That's about how much I lost in the first month, so try not to worry, I think it's pretty normal for a LW since we have less to lose.
I never counted calories so I'm not much help there. Hang on for a wild ride because it sounds like you're doing all the right things.

You're doing just fine...the only person you need to compare yourself to is you. Each person is different. And it's not about pounds but percentages.
Also, did you measure your self pre-op? If not, do it today and then once a month afterward. While you may not lose much weight each month, I bet you lose inches.

Looking at your ticker, you are almost halfway there. What more could you ask for being 1 month out. You are doing fine. Concentrate on getting your protein and staying on your plan. Weigh or measure what you eat so you don't overeat. If you are following your plan, you will do fine.

yeah 20 lbs in a month is awesome lol . I too still feel like i will be the one person who fails at this ... well one of he MANY ...but the truth is I eat the right things ( even if a little too much and a little too often at times )
the tool works if U work it ... .
The thing U cant let Urself do is give up and go back to the old bad habits EVER . But with the tool Ure not as hungry so its really not that hard not to do ...

Congratulations on your first month and your 20 pounds. I think that is a normal amount to lose the first month.
Be sure to weigh and measure your food. Watch your bad carbs and try not to bring them back into your diet too soon. I tried to keep up with protein, fat, carbs & calories. My NUT never gave me a calorie guideline, but I think 600 - 800 would be right for you now. If you do alot of heavy exercising you might have to increase it. I only walked and lifted some weights.
If you want any advise about your meals you can post on Menus and Miles each day. I still do it for the accountability and you get great meal ideas!!
