another complication - when will it ever end? Iliostomy reversal follow up
She numbed that area of my stomach and with a scaple, opened the incision a bit, taking out a chunk of skin - if I thought my pain was bad before - I have been in agony since Thursday. The dilaudid barely touches my pain and I also wear a fentanyl patch. There isn't much more they could do for me as far as pain control goes - I really need to cutting my dosages, not increasing them - I don't want to get addicted to the stuff. But, either way, I had to increase it a bit for the past 3 days and I will see how tomorrow goes. Back on track - once she opened the incision, there was a pocket filled with stuff that she took out - mostly blood and then she packed it. This has to be done daily to let it drain. I have to go see her again this Thursday to see how I am doing. If it isn't getting better by Thursday, then I have to for a CT scan to make sure there isn't a fistula in there somewhere. I really hope it isn't that because that gets more complicated - I am trying not to think about that. The G tube is still in but if I need to have the CT scan, it will be good since they can put all the fluids through the tube.
Well, I will keep you posted as thinks continue to unravel.

Randi, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I had a staph infection (not wls related) and had to take four different antibiotics to finally the kill infection. I am sending up prayers (hope that word does not offend you.) I am wishing all the best for you. Hope you are on the mend soon.

Its a painful process and probably not so recommended when it comes to stomach type wounds .. still I'd be making hot compresses several times a day and putting them on there for say 15 minutes at a time and trying to draw the infection out if I could .... along the suture line ..
the problem is if a pocket of infection gets trapped by the outside drying and healing ( wounds have to heal from the inside out)
I guess I just believe in time tested natural and non-invasive remedies as an commonsense adjunct to antibiotics.
Also I'd be taking a ton of vitamin C which I am sure U are and drinking cinnamon/ clove /ginger type teas because again they have a natural anti-infection effect in the body. Most pungent herbs do actually....
big hugs Ava
