My gall bladder attack go so bad I was having chest pains, so after fighting it since 10 am yesterday morning, I gave in and went in at 9 pm.
I still have the pain in my side, headache, nausea and pressure in my chest and there is nothing they will do about it.

I got an IV of fluid! YAY ME, actually I believe I needed it so this really is a good YAY.
Took blood gave me Zofran and Norco, told me to come back of course if it got worse but just to follow through with my surgery on April 4th.
They did do a small ultrasound and told me in exact words " Yes you have alot of stones, big ones too but the gall bladder looks very healthy so theres nothing we can do!"
He made it rhyme on purpose to be funny.
I have been sleeping all day to try to get rid of the effects of the drugs they gave me but I still can hardly eat and drinking is almost non existent.... Anyway.....

Oh quickly, I had a nurse lecture me that Chili was the most horrible thing to eat when you had a bad gall bladder because of all the fat in the chili ( I used turkey ) and that I should NEVER EVER eat it again, How true is this?

My granny had recurring gallstones and she DID used to eat a lot of fat .... hmmmm.

I hardly eat any .... and havent had any gallstone issues 18 months post despite losing 100 lbs and no actigall...

But then I think of Roz and she hardly seems to eat fat either so who knows ... maybe ive just been lucky so far ...
So sorry Stacey big hugs hope U feel better soon...

I had a friend who told her that ice cream was the worse thing he could eat because of his gall stones.  It was the fat.  Like I get to enjoy ice cream!

Stacey, I hope your pain stays under control until the 4th, that's a while.

I can understand the fat in ice cream ( althoug I have not touched ice cream in I dont know how long) but how much can really be in chili when i make it myself? I dont know have to do some additional research.

When I had my gallbladder attack, they said to stay away from fried foods.  So yes, its the fat...  I lived primarily on veggies during that time.

Hope you're feeling better!!

When I had my attacks it was brought on by fatty foods.  But I have to tell you. I make my own chilli with turkey and I have lived off of it since surgery. I do have my GB out for about 15 yrs and the only think that took away the pain was staying away from the fatty foods and taking muscle relaxers and pain meds..but then I too slept a lot.  keep yourself hydrated. Good luck I hope you feel better.

The only thing worse that a night in the ER is a night in the ER when they don't cure the problem.....
so sorry you are going through this.

According to my best friend *****cently had her gb out, "stay away from fats of all types."  That's generally what brings on an attack.   And Nurse Anti-Chili needs to keep her gastronomical advice to herself.....  I make chili with venison, and venison is nearly fat free.

Stacey, I'm so sorry you had to go through this!  I know what kind of pain you are experiencing and it's awful!!!  I still can't figure out what set mine off because I ate really good all weekend. The only thing I did have every day was chili and it was pretty spicy.

I actually had Wendy's chili twice this week but it didn't make me sick. I wouldn't think there would be much fat in chili.  I fear every day that I'm going to have an attack like the one I had on vacation.  For dinner tonight my SIL brought home pizza and my tummy started hurting right away. It had a lot of fat so I didn't finish the piece I had.

Maybe the surgeon will move your date up since you are having problems.  I go Monday afternoon for my appointment.  I'm anxious to hear how many stones I have and how large they are.

(((HUGS)))

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
