Good morning Gina & LWs. We have plans this evening but if we get home in time, I will be checking in. I have my vitamin schedule down pat and my labs have been good. However, my Synthroid/thyroid is still off kilter. Im currently taking it in the middle of the night as per Vitaladys suggestion but Im still having issues with my thyroid levels. I dread the thought of changing my whole vitamin routine but I may have to, to tweak my Synthroid. Cindy
Synthroid shouldnt be taken with Iron or calcium. They recommend a 4 hour span in between taking either of those. I simply dont have enough hours in the day by the time I spread out all my vits, so they recommend taking the Synthroid in the middle of the night (like if you get up to go to the bathroom). Cindy
Have you been to a good Endocrinologist? They are really good at regulating thyroid levels, much better than PCP's. They can do much more sophisticated testing to see exactly where you need to tweek your levels, sometimes you just need to increase or decrease your Synthroid and sometimes, if your T3 levels are off, you can go on Cytomel and that helps your synthroid work better plus it regulates your T3 levels at the same time. It worked really well for me.
One very important thing is to make sure you get your TSH, T3 and T4 levels checked often post op since our levels fluctuate frequently. I am almost 2 1/2 years out and have had to change my doses (synthoid and cytomel) - 5 times but now my levels are great.
My Endocrinologist did tell me that we only have to wait 2 hours between our Synthroid and our calcium / iron since our digestive tract is now so much shorter and it goes through that much quicker. You do want to make sure you take it on an empty stomach and away from all other meds by atleast 1 hour as well.
Another mineral that many don't realize affect our thyroid is Selenium. You want to get your Selenium levels checked since abnormal selenium levels can affect your thyroid levels - not sure exactly how, I just know my Endo always checks my Selenium and did preop. Post op, I became selenium deficient and now I take 200mcg 4 times per week.
So, if you don't see an Endocrinologist, I can't stress how important that is for you. good luck

Good morning!
If I am available, I will be on fb tonight at 7. Love chatting with my lw buddies!
Especially as something as important as our vits.
Must have got a foot of snow yesterday, so maybe a potted primrose to give me a glimmer of hope for spring!
Need more jiffy pots to start some seeds. Love to start my herbs indoor.
Have a great day all.
Please send some positive energy to the people of Japan and all those affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Namaste.

Saturday nights around here are date nights, and computer time is rarely sanctioned. so put me down as a regret, sorry.
Besides, we're going out to dinner tonight, so I get to have something mushee and PAY FOR IT!!! Wait a minute.... that doesn't sound too good when it's put THAT way....
I get to go to a lovely restaurant somewhere and spend time in delightful conversation with my husband, while also eating something scrumptious that I wouldn't fix at home that also happens to be MUSHEE.
yes, sounds better!
