sand fleas ( or flying aphids ..take yer pick )

 My favorite  garden remedy BY FAR  is healthy plants . They  produce their own pesticides  .. and I  rarely get bothered by anything except  the  squash  vine borer  I'm still trying to outfox.. 

BUT  you start  plants in an artificial environment  under lights its AMAZING  how the pests arrive ...  

so here came the  sand fleas ...

if only  it were so easy to get rid of HUMAN pests   .  I went out into the garden and found my old plants of chrysanthemums from last year.. with  bright green bottoms of new growth .   Grabbed a small handful o f those leaves ...and blended them with a hand blender  into a slurry .. then into  an empty  mister ....

And I took em DOWN      ( sprayed the soil too since thats where they hatch) 

Now U CAN go out and buy  " safer  " insecticidal soap  or any number of " pyrethrin "  based " safe" insect killers at a dear price .  Its EXACTLY  the same thing as what I just made  , a hundred proof or so less POWERFUL since the ingredients aren't as fresh. 

trust  me the plants would MUCH rather have the ground  up chrysanthemum leaves ... 

I love a free remedy ...  especially when it WORKS  and when it takes  two minutes to make 

We call them white flys here but I'm sure they are the same thing.  Glad to know you had an easy cure for the problem.

How do you know to do that stuff?  That's just amazing!!! 

I've never even heard of sand fleas....LOL
