Switching Surgeons - not center

I got a call from the Center and they said the surgeon I picked is out of the office the month of April .... I said "ok - so let me meet with the other surgeon"... and QUICK!

Atleast they are communicating with me quickly....  it's a good program.  Maybe I don't get the NUT I wanted but I still have her email.  Same NP.   Would this freak you out?????  I'm not freaked out right now for some reason...hmmm...

I'm anxious and want this scheduled and live my NEW LIFE --- what do you think???

Oh and my Dad is in the hospital - neighbor had to take him at midnight.  He has diverticulitis flare up again.  I'm praying the surgeon does not want to operate.   Please swing some for him!

I think if you meet with and are comfortable with the new surgeon, go for it. Find out how many surgeries he's done of your type and how their outcomes have been. If it's a great practice, you should be fine.

Swinging lizards for your dad.

I went with the surgeon I did because I could get surgery months sooner.  He was the Jr partner and newer and had less business but I had a great experience and would do the same thing again.  The group is a center of excellance and did a great job getting us ready and following us and that matters a lot.

Ditto to what Price said.  I went with the Jr partner, center of excellence, etc.  Only thing was, the training they gave didn't cover what the new doc's procedures were.  I kept insisting that I was to have a pain pump, but my doc only does pain meds upon request.  They didn't tell us that in our class or written materials.  Personally, I probably had less meds than I would have with a pump because I needed to call for it, and it took the nurse a while to get to me.  But all in all, I wasn't that uncomfortable.

Thank you all, Gina, Price and Cheryl - - good to hear some related success stories with last minute switches!  I feel I am in a good program and have met pretty much everyone who will be involved in ongoing care so my fingers are crossed...
