Well, I definitely have gallstones....Bring it on ladies and gents....tell me what comes next.  I have a Surgeon's appointment on Monday.

Is surgery harder, easier, or the same as having the gastric bypass?

Just get it out.  It will make life easier or it did for me.  Mine was so long ago it was open and was not a fun surgery but now they are lap and it should be much easier.

Glad they found your problem Roz.   Most GB surgeries can be done laproscopically so an easier recovery time.   Good luck!   Cindy

RNY on 10/21/08 with
Roz - I had mine out in 1992.  Was absolutely the easiest surgery I ever had, with virtually no pain.  Had to take a week off and felt I could have gone back in 2 days.  Of course I was much younger then too - lol...

Mine was done lap too... get'er done.. you'll be glad you did.

I think you handle surgeries a lot better than I do.  You seem to bounce back so quickly.  I've used so many of my sick days for family members it doesn't leave to many for me.

Are you in a lot of pain?   I had that one really bad attack but now it's just tender on some days and no pain on others.

I'm hoping he can do mine soon because I want to feel good before we go to FL at the end of April.

Not severe pain no but definately tender and sore everyday. They found definately 5 stones 1 cm each and in the report it said possibly more.

Today it is really bad though, only thing different is I ate some cream cheese and now I am considering the ER for pain relief.

Hopefully you can get it taken care of before your trip, be honest I only have to wait this long because it is a military hospital, you probably will have it out fairly soon.

Hope you feel better really soon.

Next would be gall bladder surgery.

Mine was much, much easier than my RNY, although I know everyone is different.

It was outpatient surgery.  Surgery was at 8 am, and by 11:15 I was in the car on the way home.  Had some pain that night but felt just fine by the next day.
