All right folks.... I need help! Which of the following do I buy and in what quantity for a post op newbie? I want to learn from your experience! I am 63...

Protein, Vit D (1000, 1500 or 2000), Fish Oil (What form?), Calcium Citrate (1500 - how many times a day?), Multiple Vitamin (3 day), Folic Acid (400 mg), B12 (1000 - 2 x week), Thiamin 100 mg (weekly), Biotin (how much?)

I've ordered from vitalady.com... they have protein, too!  Very helpful info on their site.  Check it out!

Didn't your surgeon's office give you guidelines???  They all seem to differ.

Good luck!

Yes, the surgeon's office did provide guidelines. According to what I have read they were the "barebone". I wanted other inputs.

I ordered from Vitalady.com, too.

Did your Dr give you requirements regarding whether he wanted chewable, sublingual or pills?

When I was post-op I had only chewables and sublinguals.

Protein:  Newly post-op you'll try to shoot for 60g a day, increasing it to 100g a day when you can get more in.

Vit D:  This needs to be a DRY D.  I took the 5000 a day

Fish Oil:  Don't take it - can't help you there

Calcium Citrate:  1500 a day.  I get the chewy chocolate bites from Vitalady.  I take 2 at a time, 3 times a day (I know, that's 1200, but you get the drift).  No more than 600mg at a time

Folic Acid:  I take one 400mg a pill in the morning

B12 - I'm surprised they're only having you take 1000 2 x a week.  I took 1000 a day.. sublingual too - no pills no chewables.  MUST let it dissolve under your tongue

Thiamin - I take a B Complex whi*****luded Thiamin.  This comes in a liquid form I like to take - it also has B12 in it too.  So if you take the B12 2x a week you're getting your extra in your B Complex supplement

Biotin - didn't take it.

I know Gina and others will chime in.

Yes, I agree that chewables and sublinguals and powder I will be using post-op. My doctor's was more "barebones". I like your plan!

Which surgery? We all need different basic doses depending on the surgery, then you tweak according to your labs post-op. I have links to all Vitalaldy's plans but I need to know your surgery.

Here are her pre-op ideas that might help. www.gblcreations.com/Resources/Gina/VitaladysPre-op_ideas_11 -2009.doc
