Good morning LW's....

Today is my long day so no fitness fun for me...

How about you? What are you up to today?

What is the one thing (activity or class) that you saw and said "hell no..." but might want to try it now...lol For me, it is those spinning classes...they scare me! I don't know why but they do.

Well, I gotta jam, i'll check in later on today. Have a great day!!

Curves done already for me.  And the more I use the stretching machine (actually, stand cause it doesn't move) the more I like it.

One of the staff at curves is an X body builder.  She said if I would get some 5lb weights, she would get me started on some exercises to help my arms and legs.  So I'm going in Thurs evening and she will get me going.  I'm excited about moving to the next level.  I've upped my efforts on the circuit both on the recovery boards and the machines, added Zumba and am ready for more.  Whooooooooo

Hm, nothing really scares me as far as trying exercise anymore, but I always get terrified before TKD tests, and DH and I are facing taking our 4th dan black belt tests this June! I am FREAKED OUT. BUT.. I will be a much lighter me, and will hopefully perform a whole lot better! I also hate tournaments and demonstrations, but I do them anyway. I try to push myself beyond my comfort zone when I can. I think it helps make me a better teacher and public speaker, because there is NOTHING more vulnerable than doing exercise or physical feats in front of a crowd! If I can do that, I can sure talk in front of colleagues or in front of a class of hormone-driven young adults! :D

Well look at that. I just gave myself the pep talk I needed to finish my research presentation for my student professional group (Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics Association) tomorrow. :D

I also plan to get to TKD tonight, but with the snow (STOP ALREADY!) and tight schedule, I don't know if we will make it.

Did Curve's this morning before work so I don't have to think about it anymore...

I hope to take my 2 year old to the play ground, but there's been a threat of a flood warning today (no rain as of yet, it'll likely start as soon as I pick him up and get him home). Failing that (or in addition to it?) I want to start using the Wii Fit again. I was at a friends house over the weekend and me, her, and her daughter all took turns on their and got in close to an hour each. Reminded me how much I enjoyed that little jerk of a board

Biking scares me.  On a bike, on a street, with traffic.  Being heavy, the momentum really takes over and whimpy bike brakes can't stop it.  Also, the tiny seat... Ick, and hurt!!!  So no spinning class for me, but I am doing the stationary recumbent bike.  Now that's my non-speed.

Today, did 45 minutes recumbent bike, treadmill jog 2 miles, walk 1 mile.  Oh my achey breaky body.

i like the MUSIC  !!  sounds like a disco  inferno in there  with  a buncha madmen and defined women pedaling so hard theyre about to take FLIGHT  lol .....

i think im going to get that insanity thingy  that fits over Ur door -  the one with the ankle straps and handles  and elastic bands and exercises  called " the beast " , the "maniac"  etc....

I love  doing things called the Beast    on general principles  !  And  I figure if I can do 15 minutes  of  hard core jumping around as an intro  ... I wont be bored  and I might really actually start to sweat... something that is  NOT  at all easy for me to do even when running  ....

The last few days have been insane work wise  but i did  do some lifting  of mulch bags  ,  dirt bags  etc ... and  planting also ... a TON  of jumping in and out of trucks ... running  around the city ...

In the end  if I take the train into the city  for work I  HAVE to register 3-4  miles walked  by the end of the day .  They  say most Manhattanites ( without cars ) actually walk between  five and six miles a day just getting around  ...  EVERY day.

Tomorrow  :  I run ...without fail  ;) .

The class  I've  been planning to take for a few years  was  coed boxing  and kickboxing at Chelsea Piers  ...

I love working out  with  light and heavy bags  in  a gym that has them... talk about working up a sweat  !  And its just great fun getting into the rhythm of pounding the things  with nice resounding THUNKS....

yep  I would love to  install a heavy bag in my own home gym but it needs  to be attached to a beam  and somehow I  don't think the landlord would  like  his gracious  original 10 foot plaster  ceiling desecrated  ;( .

Years ago I was  the first GRRl to work out  under the Brooklyn bridge  at Gleason's gym  .... now its  a popular  model hangout  ...   i liked it when it was  raw and stinky and sweaty ...I could still go there probably for free   but its just too far on the gosh darn subway ... and i have a LIFE now
