I Survived

Well, it was a nice wedding.  I survived the trip in the car with my ex.  We just made small talk pretty much, talking about people we knew when we were married and family stuff.  When we got there we felt bad because James' family was all there and all my daughter had was me, her father and sister.  My other kids couldn't come because of work and one boy is out of town on a family vacation.  To be fair we weren't given a lot of notice.  It was kind of spur of the moment but still.
It was very touching to see them exchange vows.  I was starting to get teary eyed but I was pretty busy with a squirming infant to get too sentimental.  James was one of my daughter's first boyfriends when she was about 15 and I always felt he was her first love.  They broke up and got together with other people and had kids but it seems like they were meant to be.  They each had 2 kids and right after they got back together again, 3 months after Kaci was born, she had an appointment to have an IUD placed except 2 days before the appointment a pregnancy test was positive.
Anyway, today also marks the first time in about 2 years that I have worn make up.  I have been so sick for so long that I stopped caring about my appearance.  In the last few months I have finally started buying some clothes that fit and trying to look good when I go out.  That is a big change for me and putting on make up was a big deal.  My son got married almost 2 years ago and I think that was the last time I put it on.  I actually look pretty good when I dress up.
Now I get to play with my granddaughter and cuddle.  One of the goals I had when I had surgery was to get well so I had the energy to be with them.  That alone makes it worth it.
Here is a picture my daughter took of me today.

Sounds like the car trip turned out much better than the anxiety you thought it would be...that is awesome!!!  Glad it was smooth!

Congrats to your daughter!  Some things are meant to be and it sounds as if the two of them were meant to be!

Makeup makes me feel better (I only wear foundation)!  But I notice a difference in my persona when I forget to put it on!  You look very nice in your pic!  Continue to play with those Grandbabies!!!

First of all: hello, Beautiful! :)

Even thought the cir****tances were less than ideal, you put your best foot (and face) forward--good for you! In the rear view mirror, you can be proud of the grace you've shown. And you can certainly be proud about the fact that  all your weight-loss efforts are being made visible in this photo.

You SURE don't look old enough to have grandbabies!!

Congrats on surviving (and allowing NSDXH to survive) the drive.
That was an awesome gift to give to your daughter.
