Vanity Sizing at it's Best!
So what store do you go into and find that you wear a much smaller size then most places?
I was in Ralph Lauren this weekend looking for jeans. I grabbed a couple of 4's and a couple of 6's--jeans, capris, dress pants. All of them were far too big. At 137 lbs--I know that there is no way I am a size 2! --but I ain't gonna lie---It did put a big smile on my face!![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/biggrin2.gif)
The other thing that I find ironic--as a plus sized person I always had to buy petite length. Now as a normal-sized person I need regular or long. How can this be? Did my legs get longer with my RNY? haha It is frustrating trying to find a 4 that is long or regular--almost all of the jeans at RL were 4 petites.
Needless to say, no jeans/pants for me this weekend ...but boy, did I want a size 2 in my wardrobe! hahaha
Happy Monday!

I don't understand the Petites either. I'm only 4'10" so I have always had to buy Petites but I was hoping that smaller sizes would mean shorter legs and I wouldn't have to get them hemmed...wrong. They only ones I haven't had to get hemmed were the DKNY's.
Oh, and I do measure taller now. The Dr. said it's because I don't have all the extra weight pushing my joints down. I think I stand a lot taller now too because I take a lot more pride in how I look.

Dockers, JCrew Favorite Fit, and Banana Republic. I need a size 2 in all of those, while I'm a size 4 in everyone else.
It's a hoot - especially since the JCrew pants have a cut very similar to what I wore in high school in the early 70's, and I still have my favorite belt from that era. It still fits in the same hole I used in HS and I WAS A 12/14 AT THAT TIME! Talk about vanity sizing!!

I know - I'd figure I was actually smaller than in HS, but with that belt... nope, it's the clothing sizes that are warped!

EXACTLY !! LOL ! I have to buy vintage stuff from time to time to show manufacturers what I mean by a certain seam or a certain cut ... I'm astonished at the size difference between women then and now ( height wise as well as waist wise )
Its very easy for me to get complacent shopping in places like walmart where im a small x/ small and then i go to the high end jeans designers and OOOPS ..can't get my leg in the 25s ,maybe the 26es either .
Im not a size freak ,... just give me well defined arms ,a middle that doesnt pooch out and non existent love handles and Im PERFECTLY happy
. my pet peeve is FLAB not being statuesque ... I kind of like the amazon thingie ....
