well I weighed this morning . Ok no ... so maybe a tad more than usual .. and I also snacked on some " low carb" whole wheat kosher turkish labne bread ...( I know I know ) as hubby argued nonstop at me for two hours in traffic nonstop on the way back to NY ....
GRRRR -
I tell ya if I couldn't get away from this guy during the week we'd be long divorced already lol...
bottom line is weights the same . maybe a lb.more .
I don't know exactly what I was EXPECTING lol ... but I really TRIED with the low carb all weekend ( though I did snack on some fat free corn puffs on Saturday night and SAW the bloat in the mirror literally the next morning ! )
Its still an interesting experiment .
I also spent some time in whole foods shelf- reading an book called the China Study which is all about why people in rural China ( who basically eat a lot of VEGETABLES ) ... so a high - carb high fiber diet by our currently fashionable food -category mad descriptions ....
have very low rates of cancers , strokes , diabetes and ill health ( and death ) compared to us despite having practically no access to medical care lol ....
incidentally this book SKEWERS and I mean LAMBASTES Atkins and the dairy and meat and fast food restaurant and processed food company lobbies who keep American eaters deliberately in the dark by confusing the issue of fresh good food vs processed fatty cheap sugar laden variously flavored garbage .... by mislabeling it all as " carbs" " fats" and "proteins" as if fresh vs processed food was truly equal to our bodies and to our health .
Sorry but its OBVIOUS that thats not TRUE .
That said I have to agree that MY preferred diet of semi fat -free cakes , fresh breads , and DESSERTS ..bears very little resemblance to rural China's either lol ....
so my conclusion is that a carb isn't a carb when its accompanied by fiber ... in other words I think I can eat all the stir fried fat free fresh veggies I WANT ..... salads of course ,
and if I can manage to largely stay away from the GRAIN ( and eat whole wheat at the very least when I DO eat it )
eat a lot less dairy and more meat and fish ...
I'll be fine . ( and hopefully a little LIGHTER too )
at least this is what I'll be trying this week ...

Go for it, Ava. I think we will always see conflicting articles about how and what we eat. You grow so much of your own veggies and such, and have access to the wonderful markets in NYC, I think you can make this work. I wouldn't eat the grains, whole wheat or not though. lol

So that is pretty much how I have been eating lately. protein = meat, fowl and fish, fresh veggies. I have included eggs and cheese (low fat). No grains, no starches but beans. A few berries now and then. Seems to be working for me.
