Gone most of the week -- catching up (long)

It was a tough week for me this week.  I was off traveling to my corporate offices in CT (near NYC).  First it was cold.  I'm horribly whiny about cold weather for 2 reasons:
1.  All my insulation is disappearing (yay!)
2.  I live in south Texas.  It was in the 80's when I left.
The 30's seemed like a foreign country, but I did pack for it.

My eating was terrible.  I was sitting on my butt in meetings and succumbed to the snack monster.  I did have some good moments with better choices at meals, but overall, not my finest week food wise.

It was cool that my boss was introducing me to people because he thought I'd changed so much they wouldn't know me.  There were tons of compliments that were very flattering.  I even got the "You can't lose 30 more pounds.  There won't be any of you left."  (yeah right, at 195 there will be plenty of me left).

I kept walking out of my favorite pumps.  They are nude colored and go with EVERYTHING.  I've lost so much weight in my feet that I can't keep them on.  I'm so bummed.  They were just the right height and color.  OK, I'm a little happy that my feet are getting thinner too. I'll have to find a new favorite pair.

I was back on the office Friday. Tons of meetings and people expecting me to drop everything to solve their issues.  At the leadership meetings one of my co-workers told the VP I wasn't supporting his hiring efforts.  This was complete horse-hockey.  I was so mad I wanted to scream.  Instead, I left early and got my hair done.  2 hours with my hair dresser (who is amazingly sweet, fit, and funny) I was in a great mood and I felt awesome.  I think it is his personality and having someone else shampoo my hair.  He has several clients who have had WLS.  He could see the thinning of my hair.  He said, " You knew this was coming.  It is just a stage.   Be thankful for all your other changes."   No major change in my hair do.  DH got a happy wife instead of the crabby _itch I was when I left work.

This week I have to teach a Supervisory Management class.  I'm out of the office for 3 days.  My eating should be better since I am home.  Boy, am I a creature of habit.

My sisters arrive on Thursday and Saturday.  DH is not as excited as I am.  I have some sister shopping in my future next weekend.  I saw one sister in January.  I haven't seem my other sister since Easter.  I've changed a lot since then.  My weight loss is making them feel bad about themselves.  I keep telling them they should not judge themselves against me.  My surgery is about me, not them.  It is hard.  They want to support me, but they are feeling less than adequate about their own bodies.  We should have some interesting girl talk.

Sorry to ramble.  I missed you guys while I was on the road and wanted to catch up.

Being away from home is just hard when it comes to eating.  Sounds like you didn't do too bad.  Forgive yourself, figure out what you could have done differently, and move on.

Maybe some insoles would make your shoes fit better until you can replace them.  That has worked for me.

I love having my sister here or being there.  We were never close as children but are now.  Wish she lived closer.  She came to help me right after surgery but we haven't seen each other since.  I need to plan a visit soon.

Yeah  Price is  right on  .I keep  the sticky  Dr Sholls kinds like three  pairs  full length  and  some half lengthers  also  in my  huge  model-job bag  because the shoes they give us NEVER fit lol .

Its one of the major  modeling arts  ..not falling out of the shoes ( or off the runway for that matter  , especially on the turn  lol)

U can  stick them all together and  go up at least a size

U can also  occasionally buy something  to pad the HEEL  that will catch U and KEEP U IN the shoes .

That said .... if U have a CHOICE DEFINITELY  buy new shoes LOL !

I was  so mad  that my foot size changed .....  interestingly enough in he winter  im wearing my old things with heavy socks no problem ...

Glad you were able to take the frustrations at work and turn around and do something nice for yourself!

Have fun with your sisters....sounds like it will be the perfect time for you to pick out some great new pumps! I totally understand...several of my favorite pairs just flop on and off my heel.

Kay,
Glad you are back home.  I am a creature of habit also and do so much better when I am on my schedule.

Enjoy your sisters visit.  I bet the one that hasn't seen you since Easter will be shocked!!  Shopping sounds like a lot of fun.

Have a good week.

I hear ya. While I wasn't traveling for work,i was visiting at DD's homw with my 3 DGSs all under the age of six. I baby sat them two days while she had obligations outside the house. I mostly did good but on the second day, from fatigue,I ate some of their (healthy for them, not so much for me) snacks and real pototochips! Gak!

Could have been worse and I am back on track, glad to see you are as well.

Hang in there everyday is a chance to start over and keep going!

Kay - Glad to have you back too.  My feet too have gotten smaller since I've lost weight.  I got rid of a LOT of shoes in the past year.. and did my best to fill that gap - lol.

Sorry to hear about the stresses at work.  But you did turn it around and treat yourself - good for you!

Kay, what a supportive and kind sister you are.
Lucky you to have a good boss and hair stylist too. I've been seeing my stylist for 22 years, and I get a kick out of the fact that she can style and dye old lady blue hairs as well as the young kids who want to dye their hair purple.  Always hold onto the good stylists. They save many marriages.

And on the shoes, see if you can find the same style and brand on the Internet, just in a smaller width or size....  I've done this several times, and even shoes I bought several years ago pop up on occassion.
