Good Morning. Peeling the onion

Your title made me want to cry thinking about the onions, but I think data analysis would make me cry also! I am great at critical thinking with my patients, labs and vital signs, but dont ask me to navigate too much into this computer realm! I really should take a class at the local community college.
Yesterday was bill paying and shopping. Today is laundry and housecleaning.  Jumping on the treadmill is on the to do list too. Have to work all weekend.
Hope all have a great weekend!

Peeling the onion back is the terminology we use for the work I do in data analysis. I kind of like it....and sometimes it can make you cry. lol  Anyway, I presented my initial layer of data analysis yesterday to our client and he was quite pleased. Validation feels sooo good!  I have my mission for today and next week...and I'm good at this stuff. I'm a happy introverted camper today!

I also have a doctor's appointment with my PCP to talk about my osteoporosis today. I'm taking her a recent study about WLS patients and the treatment for osteoporosis. Seems Fosamax and other oral treatments aren't the best route to take with us. Injectable treatments are better. I would like to come off the Fosamax and give an injectable treatment a try for a year. We'll see if I can talk her into it.

What's on your plates and to-do lists today?

Happy Friday!

Let me know how it goes.  I need to talk to my doctor about osteoporosis options, too.  What injectables are the best?

There are 2 new ones I've heard about recently, Forteo and Prolia. My PCP wouldn't go that far with mine today. She gave me another prescription for a year's worth of Fosamax and said to go to an endo if I wanted to pursue the injectables. She did take a copy of the article about the recent study recommending injections for folks with malabsorptive WLSs but she wasn't ready to change her script. I'll see if my surgeon's office can refer me to an endo that is familiar with WLS patients and osteoporosis.

Gina, Did you ever hear more about Prolia? My doc has given me a prescription and is trying the pre-auth thing with my insurance to see if we can get it covered. Twice a year would certainly be much easier!

She doesn't want to do any more than the Fosamax because the bone loss was stopped the past 2 years. I'm planning on getting the name of a specialist from my surgeon in September. I do want to talk about Forteo and Prolia and perhaps coming off the Fosamax for a few years to see if all the hormones, vitamins  and minerals I'm taking are doing anything.

Please let me know how you do with your treatment.
