Continued Frustration- Gall Bladder

Dr told me last week to have the gall bladder ultrasound and call when finished to make an appt for results. I have connections and got my results already, I have many small gall stones that are present.
I call the Dr office to attempt ( attempt being the word) to get an appt and was told to call back in APRIL!  W.T.H!!! Now what do I do? I am going to try to call a different person and see if she can get me in but I have no clue what to do now, this thing is giving me horrible fits and now I am on purely liquids and sliders because EVERYTHING hurts....
I just wanna curl up in a ball and ... because I know nothing will be done about it.
Some days I truly hate Military medicine!

military medicine sux. That's fer suer.

Of course, if you make a couple trips the the ER (hint) with abdominal pain, you may get quicker results..  Nothing like showing how much pain you're in to get faster attention.

Hey Stacey......I know you are in pain.....you have gallstones.......the thing about gallstones is this....unless they are actually obstructing stones or the gallbladder isn't inflamed or "angry"  they are never in a hurry to take it out!  You can have a Nuc Med scan which actually test gallbladder function here is a link that explains the test better.....www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003826.htm.  Maybe if you can get proof that your gallbladder is failing you they will be more apt to remove it.  Know that having it removed doesn't always take the symptoms away either......

The following website has diet suggestions and 3 suggested recipes for relief during an attack

Thank you Heather, I am going to check these out now.

**** I just read over the what you can and cant have for the diet, it includes everything that contains any source of protein. With the exception of soy. I live on cheeses, beans and yogurt for my protein needs. I think I am screwed*****

I didn't see chicken, seafood, or fish on the "bad" food list......cottage cheese is on the "good" foods list too.....
You may need to invest in MORNING STAR FARMS for the short term........I know they have alot of soy products that are fairly high in protien.  Maybe you need to switch to a soy based protien supplement as well.

I feel your pain!  I've been having an attack since noon today and funnily enough it was soy that set me off.  Within 5 minutes of eating a tofu dessert the pain started, thankfully it's not as bad as my last attack.

Stacy,
Have you ever had edamame (soybeans)?  They're in the frozen section of most grocery stores, usually in the 1 or 2 lb veggie bags.  But definitely in oriental markets.  Get 'em either in the pod or shelled.  Boil them to heat them up, throw 'em in a salad or soup.  Very high protein.   I used to eat 'em like popcorn, with a bit of salt or herbs, hot right out of the boiling water.  I had to buy them in the pod to slow me down or I'd eat an entire bag.

That's one idea. The soybeans, I mean, not eating the entire bag.  LOL.

Don't have any clues about getting things done in the military any quicker but I do know that gall bladder stuff hurts.  I remember spending several days on the floor of my office in pain and couldn't wait to get it taken out.

Here's hugs    Maybe the diet will help until you can get in.
