Good Morning. Support Group After Action Report
I didn't enjoy myself too much at support group. We just talked a little about labs and eating protein and such. There were a couple of folks trying to "get back on track"...no excited newbies.
The dietitian, whom I respect, is still giving out so-so info to RNYrs. Drives me batty. I thought she "got it" about the oil based D2 for RNYrs...not. {sigh} She's also still talking 50 grams of protein a day. {another sigh} I sure would like to bring one of you smart successful RNYrs to a meeting to help set her straight. She has listened to us DSrs, now she needs to listen to successful RNYrs to change her approach.
I will give her credit, she recommended protein shakes every morning as a great way to start the day.
So, next month we are to bring our favorite protein shakes and mix them up for the group. That's April 5th, Jody, are you still in town then? I'd truly love it if you could show your hot self off and set her straight on what it takes to be successful and healthy.
Ok, y'all have a great Wednesday. See you guys at lunchtime.

Sometimes I wish I were closer to my support group, but I think they would drive me crazy. My NUT does not believe in protein drinks. Even though she told me I was successful and I told her what I was doing. Maybe in August when I go for my 2 year and I'm still successful she will listen.
I've been working on cutting out the sugar and really bad carbs. I found a high fiber tortilla wrap that has 12 grams of fiber, 5 grams of carbs and 71 calories. It taste really good and I only eat 1/2 at a time. Works for me as a bread substitute since that is something that I really crave.
Hope everyone has a great day today.

Good Morning!
Sorry that it wasn't the best support group for you last night. Mine is tonight. We meet 2x a month. The first WEd of the month we break down into post-ops and pre-ops for the first hour, then meet together for the last 30 minutes. The third wed of the month we all meet together and have a speaker of some sort. This month will be the bariatric psychologist who interviewed us all pre-op. I thought she was boring in the meeting so will look forward to seeing if she's different as a speaker. I like the first Wed of the month because we get to talk about what we really do with our food/program etc. In the main room we have to talk about the Kaiser plan and we're not allowed to utter words like "protein shake" as they are forbidden. I go to the meetings to pay it forward because there were people there for me when I went for the three months between orientation and surgery.
Several of us meet at my house on the other Wednesday's and have formed a really tight support group. We walk together when the weather is good and have started taking pilates and yoga together. I need all the support I can get! I'm just that kind of beast. :)
