Hi all, and thanks for the pre-surgery good wishes. I'm looking forward to putting Thursday behind me and beginning anew.

Here's a question I hope you don't mind answering for this newbie:

What's the deal with swinging lizards? Does flinging reptile****her and yon affect your weight loss somehow?

Mostly a lurker here but I think I can answer this one.  It means good luck, wishing you well.   Hope all goes well with your surgery.

Thanks, Queen_Mom! (It's very nice to "meet" you!)

I wonder how they came up with that expression in the first place?

Not quite sure, but I think someone mentioned it is a take off on the Jewish chicken swinging tradition.

I believe it was brought about so it would not offend anyone when they were saying "sending prayers", swinging lizards is a term that can be taken any way needed without hurting anyones religious beliefs.

I asked the same question my first week on the board. hehehe. I say "crossing all my crossables". It's just everyones way of supporting you. I think it's a great saying and it brings a sense of unity to the board. I don't have lizards and I know my cats would slash me if I swung them, so I'll just keep it as a metaphor for now.
